JOB DESCRIPTION
Mammography Clerk/Medical Records Analyst
Department: / Admissions SSHPIReports to: / Business Office Supervisor

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hang mammography films for radiologists to read and remove previous days films
- Send reports to physicians and mail result card to patient
- The following is done depending on the category results:
- If category 0 schedule follow up appt
- If category 4 or 5 send certified letters and fax to referring physician and document who they spoke to.
- If category 3 schedule 6 month follow-up appointment
- Request prior films from other facilities for comparison purposes of mammography films.
- Prepare films for deliver to facilities requesting our mammography films.
- Follow up on category 4 or 5 patients to obtain pathology results
- Prepare the false/positive audit
- Prepare mammography stats for the physicians and technologists
- Run the transcription organizer report to ensure there are no mammography’s older than 10 days that must be dictated. If there are notify radiologist.
- Follow up on the category 0 log
- Follow up on the category 4 or 5 log
- Return loaned films to appropriate facility.
- Analyzes requests for medical information and abstracts requested information from the medical record for other hospitals, physician’s offices, attorneys, patients, insurance companies, and federal and state intermediaries.
- Prepare medical records for release in accordance with established policies and procedures and state and federal regulation.
- Complete release of information log
- Bills, records and process payments for release of information
- File medical records, reports and films in medical records using established systems.
- Performs routine clerical tasks.
- Back up scheduling
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years as a health care receptionist or medical records analyst.(or 2 years in a medical office capacity or equivalent training)
- Professional Appearance
- Use of proper grammar and spelling
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Phone etiquette
- Dependable
- Excellent Organizational skills
- Computer skills including MS office and data entry skills.
- Ability to multi task
- Must be a team player
- Ability to safely lift 35 pounds
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager
