Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. To provide a home-like atmosphere for all service users in a manner which will develop their ability to integrate into community life.
  1. To foster, encourage and develop each service users self care skills, particularly in relation to personal hygiene, health matters and care of their personal appearance.
  1. To foster, encourage and develop participation where appropriate at a social level, for example, in local sports and recreational activities and leisure pursuits within and outside the residential setting.
  1. To ensure the religious needs of the service users are catered for.
  1. To ensure that each service user attends at the appropriate programmes at the time(s) stipulated.
  1. To requisition goods In accordance with the existing procedures and policies of the organisation and to ensure that due economy and

accountability is exercised.

  1. To attend to the needs of the service user in each bungalow/

residential setting, this will include household duties.

  1. To ensure that the service users private monies are carefully

accounted for and that records are kept and reports made as required

on all matters relating to the custody of monies for and receipt of

monies from each client.

  1. To devise and participate as required in the implementation

of Person Centred Plans, Training Programmes and other

plans relevant to the service users.

  1. To maintain records and issue reports as required.
  1. It is a requirement of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland that

any matters of concern be reported immediately to your

Manager or his/her designate.

  1. To be familiar with current developments in the services

for people with intellectual disabilities and to attend meetings

and to participate in Training Programmes, as required.

  1. To participate in the staff appraisal system
  1. To ensure you are familiar with Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation and with existing fire regulations and to comply with emergency procedures.
  1. As the duties and responsibilities of the Unit are likely to changein line with the needs of the service users the staff member must beflexible and willing to change and adapt to new programmes and models of service.
  1. To participate and assist with the organisation of Holiday Camps and holiday breaks.
  1. To act as a “Key Worker”, where appropriate.
  1. CONFIDENTIALITY:It is a requirement to maintain the confidentiality of informationconcerning the business of the Services in accordance with thePolicy on Confidentiality, the Freedom of Information Act andthe Data Protection Act.
  1. To undertake other duties as may be assigned from time to timeby your Manager or Designate.
  1. You must hold a Full Clean Driving Licence as you are required to be willing and able to drive a vehicle with up to 8 passenger seats and up to 3,500kg.
  1. You are required to establish and maintain relationships with the individuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
