Modification Proposal
School or College / Effective Term:
Name of Minor
Approved by Chair/Director / Date:
Number of Credits (minimum)
______
LSA students pursuing a BA or BS degree may opt to complete one or more academic minors in order to broaden their educational experience outside their area of concentration. LSA now also uses an online system to process modifications to existing undergraduate LSA majors and minors and proposals for new undergraduate LSA majors and minors using thePROGRAM APPROVAL REQUEST FORM (PARF). The online LSA PARF can be found at
Proposals to modify a non-LSA Minor previously approved for LSA students, must be approved by the LSA Curriculum Committee and meet the following criteria: 1) require no fewer than 15 credit hours in addition to any prerequisites; 2) provide structure and coherence, not simply a total number of credits elected at random; and 3) contain some upper-division courses. See attached for policies/administration.
- Please include a memo describing a brief rationale for this change:
- If the academic minor is adding courses from other departments/academic units, signatures of approval are required from each chair/director. Signatures indicate two commitments: a) the unit plans to offer the course at least once a year; and b) additional enrollment would not have a negative impact on majors.
- Prior to submitting a proposal form: a) send modifications to each chair/director requesting approval via email; b) type each unit’s name and signer on the form below; and c) forward all email approvals to JoAnn Peraino () in one batch.
Emailproposaland supplemental materials to JoAnn Peraino ().
