Questions

  1. How many UNC-Charlotte teacher candidates were involved with PDS activities at your site? Briefly describe their involvement?
  • We had 18 students attend PEAK training sessions with Spence Rogers. We had an average of 10 student participates in Instructional Talk-Throughs and other professional development sessions (6 sessions). UNCC invited our 12 new teachers to their campus during the pre-service days in August for a 2-day session designed to set new teachers up for success.
  1. How many in-service teachers were involved with PDS activities at your site? Briefly describe their involvement.
  • We hosted a class of pre-service teachers (approximately 40 students) for a day. We offered an orientation to our school program and teacher expectations, a schedule to observe master teachers, and an opportunity to de-brief and ask questions at the end of the day. We had approximately 15 students who came for tutorial sessions, where they observed teachers and supported students as well. We also had 10 students who took advantage of our offer to have them visit during our state exam week and support with proctoring, to give them exposure to the changing assessment trends.
