I. Getting to know one another:

Ask the group to share if they think in the last fifty years things are better or worse? Are people more loving or less loving than fifty years ago? What do they think is the problem?

II.Getting into the Bible: Read 2 Timothy 3:1-9

  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:1 “Last days” what time period is addressed in this passage?
  1. Read Acts 2:17-21; Hebrews 1:1-2; and 1 Peter 1:20 How do these help pinpoint this time in history?
  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:2-5 What character traits (18 of them) will be prevalent in people in these days? How do you see these have impacted our culture? How has it impacted the church?
  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:5 What do you think it means when people are “holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power” (2 Timothy 3:5)? What are we supposed to do when we come across these types of people?
  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:6-7 What factors do you think would makes a person particularly susceptible to heresy? (2 Timothy 3:6-7). Do you see people like this in the Media?
  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:6 What does always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth mean?
  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:8-9. Who were Jannes and Jambres? (2 Timothy 3:8-9)
  1. Why was God against them? And do think God will be against people like them?

III. Application for today:

Guard against becoming like these people Paul warned against? Stay in the Word of God and prayer. Pray for one another!
