Objectives: By the end of this plan the children will learn about the Hardware and software of the computer.
METHODOLOGY:
Introduction: The teacher will first explain the children that computer is made of two basic parts- Hardware and Software
Development: Then she will explain the children physical parts of a computer that we can touch and see are called Hardware and will give them examples of hardware like keyboard, mouse etc.
Then teacher will teach the children what is an input device by giving them examples like :
·  Mouse
·  Microphone
·  Trackball
·  Touchpad
·  Touchscreen
·  Light pen
·  Scanner
·  Digital Camera
·  Web camera



After this she will teach them about the output devices. She will explain them that output devices are used to display the data that we enter into a computer and the results that we get after processing and give them examples like :
·  Monitor
·  Speakers
·  Printer

She will then teach them about storage devices and will inform them that they are needed for storing data. Then she will discuss various types of storage devices-
·  Hard Disk
·  CD
·  DVD
·  Blu-Ray Disk
·  Flash Drive
·  Memory Card


After this she will teach them about software. She will teach them that part of a computer which cannot be seen and touched is a software. She will give them examples like a CD is a hardware but songs or movie which are stored on it are software.
After this she will tell them there are two types of softwares:
·  System Software and
·  Application Software.
She will teach them first system software and inform them that it is a set of programs that control the overall working of a computer. After this she will discuss about Operating System and its functions.
After this she will teach them about Application software and will discuss various Application softwares with them like MS-Paint, WordPad, Calculator, Games etc.
Summation: The teacher will revise the above concepts by discussing the various MCQ’s given at the back of chapter, with the children. / Resources:

Children will do back exercises from home which will be discussed in the class.
Evaluation: The teacher will also be asking questions regarding ‘Hardware and Software’ from the children.
Closure: The teacher will recapitulate all the key points of the topics covered and will deal with the individual problems and mistakes committed by the children.
