HARMONISED CHARGE FOR VETERINARY CHECKS

Revised schedule of charges that this authority will be levying on all imports of products of animal origin as from 1stJanuary 2018.

Commission Regulation 882/2004 sets the minimum harmonised charges in Euros which must be charged by Border Inspection Posts undertaking Trade in Animal & Related Products. As in previous years the exchange rate is set at the rate published in the C Series Official Journal published in September of the year preceding the year in which charges will apply. The exchange rate for 2018 has been set at 1 ECU = £0.91973. This rate is the rate that Southampton Port Health Authority is using.

Our charges are based on the gross weight of products rounded up to the next full tonne. There is one set of charges for all imported products from third Countries other than New Zealand and a set of charges for all imported products from New Zealand, the format of the charges remains the same.

Below is a schedule of the new charges as from 1stJanuary 2018. These charges will apply to all documentation received after mid-night on 31 December 2017.

SCHEDULE OF CHARGES –TRADE IN ANIMAL & RELATED PRODUCTS EFFECTIVE: 1stJANUARY 2018

1. Third Country Imports of Animal Origin excluding New Zealand:

  • Consignments up to 6 tonnes are subject to a minimum charge of £50.60 per consignment.
  • Consignments between 7-46 tonnes: £8.28 per gross tonne.
  • For consignments over 46 tonnes a maximum charge of £386.28 per consignment.

2. Products of animal origin from New Zealand:

  • Consignments up to 6 tonnes are subject to a minimum charge of £39.21 per consignment.
  • Consignments between 7 – 46 tonnes: £6.41 per tonne
  • Consignments over 46 tonnes are subject to a maximum charge of £299.84 per consignment.

I would be grateful if you will notify the importers of the charges applicable as per the attached schedule.

Please note as usual that actual costs associated with any laboratory analysis carried out will be recovered in addition to the above charges. These will vary in accordance with the type of analysis required.

A list of the Southampton Port Health charges in relation to the official controls carried out at our Border Inspection Post and Designated Point of Entry in relation to all foods imported is also attached.

This list also indicates the charges for the issuing of Ship Sanitation Certificates.
