1.0Approve minutes March 31, 2015
Minutes from March 31, 2015 were read and approved by unanimous vote.
2.0Vote on proposal to change budget $10,000 from Aspire testing to Innovative Harbor
A proposal was made to move $10,000 from Textbooks (641) ACT testing system to Professional and Technical Services (300) to contract with Innovative Harbor for intervention services. Innovative Harbor meets with at-risk students to present Why Try curriculum encouraging students to work on academics as a means to a bright future. They also work with students to find jobs and transition from school to work. Their focus is aligned with Wasatch High School’s primary goal of ensuring all students have an individual plan for college and career readiness. A motion was made and passed by unanimous vote to move $10,000 from Textbooks to Professional and Technical Services for 2015-2016 budget.
3.0Progress Report and LAND Trust Plan presentation—Tod Johnson
A review of up-to-date spending was presented to the community council from 2014-2015 ledger. A discussion ensued as each budget category was presented. A motion was made to move budget money not spent from Software (670) to General (610). The motion passed unanimously. The council encouraged the school to make sure budgeted money left unspent was within 10% of the allotment. The budget and up-to-date spending ledger is posted on the community council website (
4.0Collect signatures
The council was notified that signatures approving next year’s plan will be collected electronically. A text will be sent encouraging the council to check their email to sign off next year’s plan.
5.0Thank year two council members. Organize next year’s community council
Thanks was extended to this year’s community council. Wasatch High School has had a banner year and accomplished many great things. The school continues to focus and make decisions based on the goals it has set. Council members that have served their term were notified that they would need to reapply next fall the week of back-to-school night when community council applications are accepted.
