CANTON, MA, October 13 2012 – Team USAemerged victorious at the first ever ‘CrossFit Invitational, Presented By Reebok’ after defeating a team of the finest male and female CrossFit athletes from Team Europe in front of a sell-out crowd at London’s ExCel Exhibition and Convention Centre. The all-star teams went head-to-head in a gruelling 90 minute series of workouts, with Team USA coming out on the top, by a final score of 20-6.

Captained by two-time Reebok CrossFit Games champions Rich Froning Jr. and Annie Thorisdottir, the elite athletes were tested to the limit in a number of demanding feats of physical fitness. Broadcast LIVE on Eurosport, the teams competed in a series of workouts in a bid for the title. In the end, Froning’s team consisting of Matt Chan, Jason Khalipa, Julie Foucher, Becca Voigt and Kristan Clever proved triumphant.

“It was an incredible night. Winning the Reebok CrossFit Games was a great accomplishment, but this victory is even more rewarding, as it was a total team effort,” said Froning. “I’m proud to share this with great friends and teammates.”

Froning continued, “Team Europe put up a great fight and they are an incredibly talented team of athletes. It was great to see the UK CrossFit community come together and cheer us on. The crowd here in London was truly amazing.”

Team Europe Captain Annie Thorisdottir said, “I am extremely proud of our team. We competed hard and have nothing to hang our heads about. Team USA deserved the win, and I think both teams were honoured to compete in such a great event.”
