Job Summary: Responsible for verifying the production process during component receipt, product storage, production, and outbound shipments to ensure product integrity and compliance to documented procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This position serves as a link between production and quality control and therefore, the assignments in this role may vary as needed by the organization. This position has the responsibility to stop production in the event product integrity or product safety is at risk. As a member of the Wixon Quality Department, it is expected that this role demonstrates ethical leadership and actively drives continuous improvement in the activities under their area of responsibility.

Essential Functions:

1. Conduct in-process evaluation on blended products to ensure color, odor, consistency, and moisture is acceptable prior to final packaging.

2. Conduct in-process evaluation on packaged materials to ensure labels, seals, and printing is acceptable prior to shipment to customers.

3. Conduct inspections on inbound component receipts to ensure product integrity, pallet integrity, supplier lot information accuracy, incoming quantity accuracy, presence of lock and/or seal on trailers, and condition of trailers.

4. Conduct inspections on outbound shipments to ensure product integrity, pallet integrity, item and lot accuracy, quantity accuracy, ship to locations and PO accuracy, and condition of outbound trailer.

5. Review production and receiving documentation to ensure critical information (i.e. metal detector checks, weight checks, quantity, lot information, etc.) is documented and complete.

6. Work directly with the Logistics team to facilitate the efficient processing of raw materials.

7. Ensure the GMP process is practiced by all employees during all steps of the operations (from raw material receipt to finish goods shipment).

8. Complete aseptic sampling activities as directed by quality programs.

9. Coordinate the release of product from supplier CoA data where it is permitted.

10. Evaluate inbound samples against release criteria. Complete the release of items meeting requirements.

11. Facilitate the disposition of items failing to meet Wixon quality standards (including product quarantine, completion of paperwork, and notification of key stakeholders).

12. Assemble necessary receipt paperwork and samples for transport to the Quality Department.

13. Work with internal departments and/or vendors to quickly obtain required quality documentation when not available.

14. Serve as a primary resource for Production and Logistics in regards to quality related issues.

15. Complete environmental sampling as assigned.

16. Oversee the proper preparation and segregation activities for the manufacture of allergens, organic, non-GMO, and gluten-free products.

17. Oversee rework activities to ensure product quality and traceability is maintained throughout.

18. Identify at-risk inventory and execute remedial activities as directed.

19. Aseptically sample aging inventory for analysis as directed by Wixon Quality Management.

20. Maintain a clean work area to ensure sample integrity. Identify areas within the warehouse and/or production areas that need attention and facilitate resolution.

21. Provide feedback and coaching to other employees in regards to safety and quality performance.

Note: This role needs to understand testing performed in the lab; however, this role will be primarily focused on the production floor. This role will require extensive training in production to understand the process to better assist with issues.

Additional Responsibilities: Attend departmental meeting and activities as required by Wixon Quality Management. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: This is an entry level position within the Quality Department. College diploma in a scientific field such as food science, chemistry, or biology, or experience in the food industry is preferred but not mandatory. Must demonstrate great attention to detail and the ability to follow procedure. Must read and write in English. Basic computer, math, and good communication skills are required. Must successfully pass Sensory Evaluation Screening. Must be willing to confront employees and supervisors when necessary to ensure that cGMP, food safety, safety, and quality procedures are executed as planned. Prior experience with lift equipment or the ability to quickly complete internal qualification programs is highly desirable.

Quality:

Must possess, demonstrate and follow all instructions, procedures and guidelines set forth in all applicable Wixon/ISO/department policies to assure continued quality product is produced.

Physical Demands: Physical stamina to withstand extended periods of standing or walking of greater than eight hours. Must be able to repeatedly manuver product containers which may reach 80lbs.

Working Conditions: Exposure to hazards of an industrial environment including noise, dust, hazardous materials, allergens, machinery and lift equipment.
