Miss Northwest 2017 Contract
Miss Northwest 2017 is a young woman who is of good moral character, passionate about her platform, and respectful to herself and others. She must reside within the boundaries set by the Miss Northwest Committee through attendance in school, residence, or full time employment.
I ______am between the ages of 17 and 23. I will be no older than 24 on September 30 of the year in which I intend to compete in the National Finals of the Miss America Pageant. I graduated or will graduate from high school before competing in the Miss Minnesota Pageant to be held in 2018. I fully understand that if I receive the title of Miss Northwest, I will be obligated to fulfill the duties of my title:
1. I will act in the capacity of an ambassador for the Northwest Community and the state of Minnesota beginning the night I obtain my title, until my successor is crowned the following year.
2. I will make every reasonable attempt to attend all appearances scheduled for me. Miss Northwest 2017 will be required to attend the following events as part of her year of service to the Northwest area:
a. Pageants: Miss Becker County Fair, Miss Perham/Heart of the Lakes, Miss Frazee, and Miss Vergas, if invited, and a minimum of two additional affiliated Miss Minnesota/America local pageants.
b. Parades: Northwest Water Carnival Parade 2017 and 2018, Frazee Turkey Days, Vergas Looney Days, and other parades that you may be invited to. If you are Miss Northwest 2017 you must ride in the Northwest Water Carnival Parade 2018 to collect your scholarship money providing you have met the rest of the requirements.
c. DL Jaycee Events: All Water Carnival events during the 2017 year, and a few 2017-2018 activities such as the Gifts for Kids and the Community Dinner.
d. Promotion: TV3, Hodgepodge, Newspaper Interviews, School presentations.
e. I will provide the Miss Northwest Committee with a brief summary and pictures of all my appearances to be used for social media and promotional purposes. You will be required to post to both the pageant website and to the pageant Facebook page. The committee will expect regular social media presence that is appropriate to your title.
3. I will sign the Miss Northwest contract, Miss Minnesota/Miss America contract and these contracts will be available for review upon request.
4. I will dress in appropriate attire when making appearances as Miss Northwest.
5. I will not make any appearances as Miss Northwest without prior approval of the Miss Northwest Scholarship Committee. At any time when representing the Miss Northwest Pageant I will have discussed and have permission from the director/committee to make said appearance.
6. I will conduct myself in a manner that will command respect from the public.
7. All of my actions will reflect high moral standards.
8. I have never been married, divorced, nor had a marriage annulled.
9. I have never been and am not now pregnant.
10. I have never been convicted of any crime and do not have criminal charges pending against me.
11. Coaching-all coaching for pageant preparation will be arranged only after consulting with the Miss Northwest Scholarship Committee. No coaches will be allowed unless otherwise approved by the Miss Northwest Scholarship Committee.
12. Wardrobe-
a. all wardrobe choices for Miss Minnesota competition will be approved by the Miss Northwest Scholarship Committee prior to send off party and prior to Miss Minnesota competition.
b. Wardrobe worn during dress rehearsal will be what is worn for competition during the Miss Northwest Pageant. In the event there is a necessary change it must be approved by the Miss Northwest Committee. No wardrobe changes are allowed between dress rehearsal and competition unless approved as stated above.
13. A contestant may be Miss Northwest twice however there must be at least one year between holding the Miss Northwest title and age requirements must be met.
14. Contestants must follow Miss Minnesota/America and local contracts.
15. I am a United States citizen, and will remain so during my participation in the Miss Northwest/Minnesota/America Program. I will also maintain my Minnesota residency during the year of service should I become Miss Northwest.
16. I am not a title-holder in the Miss America system, and I have never been a State Finalist at the Miss America Pageant.
17. The decision of the judges of the pageant shall be final. The manner and
method of the finals of the pageant shall be at the sole discretion of the
Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant Committee.
18. I agree that at no time during the period that I hold the title of Miss
Northwest 2017, will I enter any commercial endorsements or advertising,
without the written permission of the pageant committee.
19. If you are a runner-up and the new Miss Northwest does not have a vocal
talent and you do you may be asked to provide the National Anthem at various water carnival events.
20. The Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant Committee will have the ultimate authority in the decision-making process of determining the behavior and actions of Miss Northwest. The decision of the committee will be final. Failure to comply with any of the above rules as established by the Miss Northwest Committee may result in loss of title as Miss Northwest and any and all scholarship dollars, crown, sash, and ability to advance to the Miss Minnesota Pageant.
I understand that I will forfeit the scholarship if my title is terminated. It will be my responsibility to reimburse the Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant Committee for all expenses paid on my behalf; including but not limited to: tiara, entry fee to the Miss Minnesota Pageant, and the pageant preparation and clothing allowance.
I understand that all scholarship money paid by the Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant Committee will be paid according to the following schedule:
Miss Northwest will be eligible to receive her full scholarship upon completion of her reign.
All scholarship money will be paid to Miss Northwest contestants and any post secondary school of her choice. Please see separate forms regarding scholarship payments. The Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant Committee will have the ultimate authority in distributing scholarships.
