Purpose:

Toprovideadvancedtrainingfor MasterGardenerswho wish to obtainspecializationin areasthatsupport or expand designatededucationalprogramsofTexasAMAgriLifeExtensionService.

MasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialist:

Inanefforttoprovideadvancedtraining,theMasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialisttrainingwascreatedasan,intensivemulti-dayprogramthatwillequip MasterGardenerswithknowledge andskills toeffectivelysupportandmultiplyTexasAM AgriLifeExtensionServiceeffortsin educationalprograms.

MasterGardenerswhofulfillspecifiedtrainingand volunteerrequirementswillberecognizedas aMaster Gardener Oak Wilt Specialists. Thiscertificationdoesnot grant a volunteerwith supervisoryoradministrativeauthoritywithinhis/herlocalcountyprogram.

Requirements:

Tobeeligiblefor MasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialisttraining,an individualmustbe MasterGardener in good standing orbeanemployeeof theTexasAMAgriLifeExtensionService.MasterGardenerapplicantsmustbeapprovedbytheirlocalCountyExtensionAgent.

MasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialist:

TheMasterGardenerOak Wilt SpecialistprogramisdesignedtotrainandcertifyMasterGardenerstobecomepartofastatecorpsofOak Wilt educators. TobecomeacertifiedMasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialist,MasterGardenersarerequiredtoattendtheMasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialisttrainingtofulfilltrainingrequirementsandsubsequentlymeet servicerequirementsdescribedbelow. TrainingactivitiesduringthecoursewillempowerMasterGardenersto completetheseservicerequirements.

TimeCommitment:

TheMasterGardenerisrequiredtoserveaminimumofoneyearasaMasterGardenerOak WiltSpecialist providinga minimumof20hoursofservice.

• AttendtheMasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialisttraining

• Serveas alocalresource as a MasterGardenerOak Wilt Specialist

• AssistCounty Extension Agent withOak Wilt TrainingforMasterGardenersandtrainees

• Conductcommunity and youth Oak Wilt education programs

• IncreaseclienteleknowledgeaboutOak Wilt through:presentations,workshopsand mass mediaefforts(i.e.radio,newspaper,television,newsletters)

SpecialistRecognitionandCertification:

UponcompletionoftheMasterGardenerOak Wilt servicerequirements,theMasterGardenerwillbe formallyrecognizedat theannualTexasMasterGardenerConference,atwhichtime theywillbe awardedaMaster GardenerSpecialistcertificateandlapelpin.
