Dear Sir or Madam,
Christopher Hatton School – Proposed improvements for Poole’s Building & Laystall Street, EC1R.
I am writing to seek your view on the Council’s proposal to make a number changes to improve pedestrian access to Christopher Hatton School. The school’s main entrance for school children has moved from Laystall Street to Poole’s Building. Therefore, to ensure safe access for children going to and from school, we are proposing to convert the road along Poole’s Building into footway. This will stop all vehicles to enter this section of road, but pedal cycle access will be provided.
Following concerns raised to Ward members by Christopher Hatton School, council officers met with the school and Ward members and agreed on a number of proposed changes to help address their concerns. These changes are explained below and shown on the plan.
¨ Raise the road along Poole’s Building to footway level to provide a step free access to the schools new main entrance.
¨ Pave the area leading to the schools main entrance and lift and relay the cobbles setts in the carriageway to footway level
¨ Close off the road along Poole’s Building to all motor vehicles except pedal cycles.
Please note that there will be no loss residents’ parking as a result of this scheme.
The Council would be pleased to hear your views on the proposed measures.
What will happen next?
