We are so glad you and your little one(s) have joined us today!
Westmead Young Mother’s Playgroup or more known as Westmead YMPG is a Playgroup run by its members. We are the only playgroup in the area that accommodates for young mothers aged 25 years and younger; however we encourage any age group to attend. We are a committee run playgroup supported by enthusiastic members, and have been established since 2011.
Our aim is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for your child or children, where they can continue their personal and social development secure in the knowledge that their parent or carer is nearby. They are encouraged to be ‘kind’ to each other and ‘gentle’ with the younger babies and learn to take turns and share where there is only one piece of equipment. These are all actions that help set the seeds for the ‘foundation stage of learning’ and will stand them in good stead as they prepare for school.
We have some structured times such as ‘break time’ where the children are offered morning tea which is bought in by one of the mothers. If it is a child’s birthday then often their parents bring a cake and we all sing happy birthday and have a piece of cake. Additionally we encourage everyone to join in with our weekly craft activities and our outside play time.
Playgroup is an informal session where mums, dads, grandparents, caregivers, children and babies meet up in a relaxed and friendly environment. The adults stay to interact with other adults and to play with their children. Playgroup gives children an opportunity to have fun, make new friends and develop new skills through informal play. Playgroup provides parents and carers with an opportunity to meet other parents and carers, make friends and share ideas and experiences. Playgroup also allows parents and carers to spend quality time with their children, encouraging, helping or simply playing with their children. Playgroup is not-for-profit. Currently around Australia there are 103,000 families regularly participating in Playgroups, meeting in halls, neighborhood centres, churches, private homes and parks

What we offer:
For the Younger Child 0 - 1 year
· A wide range of toys, which are regularly inspected and cleaned.

For the older child 1 – 5 years
· A range of toys, which are regularly inspected and cleaned
· A craft activity each week ranging from painting, play-doh, drawing and other enriching activities.

· Outside play equipment which includes a swing, slide, seesaw and climbing ropes
· Ride on bikes
· Push motor mowers for the boys
· Prams for the girls
· A safe indoor play space with room to move, jump and make noise.
· Reading Books and puzzles
· CD player with music
· Outings and fun days planned to enrich their exploration of the world around them.
For Parents/Carers
· Tea or coffee
· Shared morning tea
· Regular newsletter informing you of activities
· A chance to mix and socialize with other parents/carers
· Occasional social evenings with other mums

Session Times
Tuesday 10 am – 12pm
Sessions are held during school holidays but not over the Christmas Holiday period. Sessions not held on excursion dates.

Annual Fee to Playgroup NSW of $39 this covers insurance and comes with other benefits too.

Fees go towards room hire, purchasing new toys and craft supplies for Westmead YMPG. If you have any suggestions regarding potential toy purchases, please speak to a Coordinator.

Roster
Westmead YMPG a group effort, as each week a member is rostered on to do something. We usually do the rosters a month in advance and are given with our Newsletter that is issued on the last session of each month. Rosters include bringing snack for mum’s and kid’s morning tea, arts and crafts, cleaning and story time.

Parking is available in the following locations:

- End of Priddle St, short walk down the path to the rooms.
