TSIRCO- RES 201/202/203

Epoxy mortar

An epoxy mortar of high strength specially formulated for use in construction and renovation

Product: High strength epoxy mortar.

Composition: A balanced mixture of fibre reinforced Epoxy Resin and specially graded fine fillers.

Purpose: To repair damaged concrete, particularly recommended for repairs on industrial floors or anywhere that high early strengths, abrasion and chemical resistance is required. It can also be used as an underlay for bearing pads.

Usage: 13kg pack will cover approximately an area of 0,65m² at a thickness of 10mm.

Pack: 6,5 and 13kg.

Ease Handling: Special formulation to give a highly workable and easily finished, material.

Powerful Bonding: Adhesion to most building materials is excellent when TSIRCO-RES 101/102/103 is used as a primer. TSIRCO-RES 201/202/203 will cure in damp conditions.

High Strength: Quick curing qualities yielding higher strengths than those of concrete.

Durability:Highly resistant to weathering abrasion and chemical attack. Negligible shrinkage.

Introduction:TSIRCO-RES 201 is a high strength epoxy mortar highly recommended for industrial floors ans as an underlay for bearing pads. Epoxy Resin with specially graded fine silica fillers are carefully blended to provide this highly workable material. When trowelled, it will compact easily, allowing easy finishing so that an impermeable layer is achieved. This mortar will cure under humid conditions and will have excellent resistance to weathering and chemical attack.

TSIRCO-RES 202 is an epoxy mortar with qualities similar to those of TSIRCO-RES 201 but with faster setting. Curing is possible at temperatures down to 0ºC, making it especially suitable for work under cold weather conditions.

TSIRCO-RES 203 is of similar composition but formulated, with special hardeners making it workable at high temperatures, i.e.40ºC to 50ºC approx.

Where to use:TSIRCO-RES 201/202/203 may be used in all kinds or repair work of defective concrete e.g. spalled columns, soffits, gutters, lintels floors e.t.c. It will also repair damaged concrete roads and runways. It can be applied as a bedding mortar for tiles, bridge bearing pads or uneven floor. It is also recommended for heavy-duty nosings on expansion joints. Damaged pipes, concrete kerbs as well as damaged precast structures may also be treated by this highly effective epoxy mortar.

How to use:

1. Preparation

Prepare the surfaces to be treated following the instruction provided in the general information sheet on how to use TSIRCO-RES Epoxy Resins.

2. Priming

To ensure proper compaction and finishing, the application of a separate primer is recommended otherwise absorption may occur by the substrate causing poor bonding. Any exposed reinforcement will also be protected by the use of a primer. Once the concrete surface has been prepared, it should be primed by the corresponding TSIRCO-RES 101/102/103 Epoxy Resin. The resin must be applied evenly over the entire surface and must be brushed well so that a continuous film covers the whole surface to be treated, particularly any crevices or exposed reinforcement.

3. Mixing

TSIRCO-RES 201/202/203 epoxy mortar comes in three separate components which must be mixed together. These are the BASE resin, the HARDENER and the FILLER. The components are supplied in correct weight proportions. To aid the ease of mixing in cold weather, the tins must be stored in a warm environment. Care must be taken to keep the FILLER dry and free form frost. Care must also be taken so that the tins are not kept under direct sunlight during or after mixing especially in the summer season and when the temperatures are high. Begin mixing by pouring the HARDENER into the BASE can. Stir the two components well until a uniform liquid is obtained. Mechanical stirring is preferable. An electric drill may be used using a stirrer attachment. Place the resin mixture in a plastic bucket and then pour the AGGREGATE into the liquid and stir well, until it is mixed completely and the mixture becomes uniformly thick. Mixing of the small pack by hand is possible by using a trowel on a board. The larger packs must always be mixed using a low speed mortar mixer.

4. Application

TSIRCO-RES 201/202/203 must be applied before hardening of the primer takes place, the latest within half hour from application and in any way as long as the primer is still tacky. The mortar must be applied in successive layers by tamping and trowelling. To allow full compaction, the layers should not exceed 15mm. Shape the mortar to the desired profile and trowel to a smooth finish. Wipe the trowel with a cloth moistened with TSIRCO-EPOXY SOLVENT to achieve a finer surface, if desired.

Yield:Each size of a pack will approximately produce the following volumes of mortar.

6.5kg pack provides approximately 3250cm³

13kg pack provides approximately 6500cm³.

Cleaning:TSIRCO-EPOXY SOLVENT can be used to clean tools provided that the adhering mortar has not already set.

Handling Precautions:Always handle resins with care to prevent skin irritation. Refer to TSIRCO-RES RESINS ‘‘Guide for Safe Handling’’ for detailed instructions.

Usage: 13kg pack will cover an area of 0,65 m² approximately at a thickness of 10mm. The corresponding primer TSIRCO-RES 101/102/103 must be applied at a coverage rate of 0.3kg per m2 of surface. TSIRCO-RES 101/102/103 epoxy mortars are supplied in 6,5 and 13kg packs.

Storage Life:Not less than one year if kept in the manufacturer’s undamaged sealed containers and stored in dry environment, out of direct sunlight.

How to Specify:The mortar used for general repairs to concrete/bedding tiles/ bridge bearing pads/expansion joint nosings, floor repairs* etc. shall be TSIRCO-RES 201/202/203. Epoxy mortar to be mixed and applied to prepared surfaces strictly in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturers, TSIRCON CO. LTD.
