Good morning Dr. Lowery,

How are you? I hope well.

I was emailing to ask if you knew of any seniors and/or grad students that are about to graduate (or already did) that are seeking a career in the commercial industry designing structures? My company, Matrix Structural Engineers, is located in Houston and we are actively looking to hire 2-3 young engineers. Obviously, they would need to be technically sound, but more than that, we're looking for self-starters, people that can communicate effectively and also people with a personality/sense of humor.

Any students you canthinkof that would fall into this category? If so, please shoot me an email and let me know!I'll be headed to the Career Fair in a few weeks, but it'd be nice to get a heads up beforehand, since we'll be on campus interviewing that same week. Please let me know, and see you soon hopefully!

If any interest pops up, please have them check out and/or email me at . Thanks!

Dr. Lowery,

Last year, we had much success with our Aggie intern. We are again looking for a summer intern to serve on our Aviation Team in Frisco, Texas. Garver is a multi-disciplined engineering, planning, and environmental services firm with offices throughout the southern United States. The engineering intern would be responsible for assisting the team with civil engineering designs for airport projects, including improvements to runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield grading and drainage, and other airport construction related projects. The ideal candidate is familiar with AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products. The most ideal candidate is from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, or has interest in working in the area after graduation. We are looking for a student who plans on graduating by December 2013 or earlier.

Garver is rapidly growing in Texas and there are many opportunities for young engineers. We are hoping to hire someone with a strong interest in entering the aviation field as a consulting engineer. Please let any interested candidates email me their resume. If you know of some students who fit the above criteria, and would enjoy this kind of work, I would appreciate your recommendation. We plan on contacting candidates we are interested in interviewing and making a decision by mid-March.

Thank you,

Hello all,

Please see the information below regarding open, entry level positions with TxDOT Bridge Division. If you know of any students who may be interested, please forward this on to them.

Dacio indicated that both graduate and undergraduate students will be considered. Also, he noted that they hire international students on the condition that they do not require to be sponsored by the employer. (State government agencies are not permitted to hire individuals who need to be sponsored.)

Thank you,

Mary Beth

Dr. Lowery,

Hope all is well. I am Lonnie Gregorcyk, District Engineer for TxDOT in Corpus Christi. I wanted to reach out to you and see if there are any CE graduates that may be looking for work in highway design and construction, willing to work in Corpus Christi. We have some very interesting and challenging projects that are underway and being designed at this time. With the economy growing rapidly (primary oil exploration) in the area, we have experienced high turnover rates in our engineering disciplines. John Barton and I were visiting on this and he suggested you might have some folks that could fit our needs. Have them email me at the email below. Sure appreciate the help Lee.

Any ideas or help you could give me is very much appreciated.

LL,

I am a former grad student of TAMU (I completed my Masters of Engineering in Water Resources in August 2010). My company has published an open requisition for an Environmental Specialist. It will be in the Environmental Department of my firm and concentrate mostly on air permitting for Oil and Gas sites. The majority of our work is in Texas and Louisiana but we work in shale plays throughout the US as well.

I recall that you were a wonderful resource for graduates looking for jobs and I wanted to reach out to you about this position. I am the only person in my 300+ employee firm with ties to TAMU and think we should “mine that well” more often.I have attached a link to the position requisition. An Environmental Official here mentioned to me that they would strongly consider an environmental engineering graduate. My role in this search is informal at this time, but I still hope to get some of your grads involved. If you have any from South Louisiana, so much the better. Please have interested students apply at:

I hope to hear from you.

Thanks

Dr. Lowery,

We are half way thru February, so I know May graduation is just around the corner. If you are aware of any Master’s (civil engineering) candidates looking for employment, please have them contact me. We find ourselves once again looking for young structural engineers in our transportation/civil group. Project opportunities have picked up slightly; however, work is still difficult to get in the door. The candidate would have to be a U.S. citizen.

I now have a daughter in school down there with you; a freshman aggie—I don’t feel that old.

I hope your semester is going well. Look forward to hearing from any potential candidates. Let me know if you receive this email; just want to make sure you got it since it’s been a while since we have spoken.

Thanks,

Dear Dr. Lowery,

I was wondering if you could forward this to the listserve. A friend of mine from my church said to pass this on and I felt like this would be the best way to do that. The position is for an entry level civil engineer.

Thanks,

Seth Cole

Seth:

I wanted to pass on some info to you. Our office wants to do a "rapid hire" for a Civil Engineer that graduated in 2012 (May, Aug, or Dec). There won't be a job posting. It will just be by word-of-mouth. They want to hire soon.

If you know anyone that fits this, have them call or e-mail the following person:

Howdy! I am one of your former students that graduated from the Civil program in 2004. I work at a firm named Parkhill, Smith & Cooper in El Paso, TX. I am looking to see if you can put me in touch with former students with land development (single-family residential) or site development experience OR current students who are about to graduate and would like to explore this type of a career. The positions I’m looking to fill are for our Midland and Lubbock offices. The ideal candidate would probably be in the range of a 3-4 year EIT to a 1-2 year PE. However, I would still be interested in talking to any students about to graduate and looking to start a career in one of these cities. Please have any interested candidates submit resumes by email to me at .

Here’s a quick summary of who PSC is and what we offer.

Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. is a full service design firm providing engineering, architecture, interior design and landscape architecture. PSC serves all types of clients such as municipal infrastructure, education, healthcare and transportation, and private development. The firm began in Lubbock in 1945 and currently has more than 260 employees located in Abilene, Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland, and Las Cruces, NM. PSC has been listed among the Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 design firms, Architectural Record’s Top 250 Firms, and as a Best Firm to Work For by Stagnito Media. For more information, go to

Dr. Hueste,

It has been a while since we have talked. My company was looking at hiring someone this spring out of the Dallas office. Figg specializes in post-tensioned segmental concrete bridges and we only hire graduate students for design work. I would appreciate it if you could pass this information along to a prospective candidate that has excelled in concrete or prestressed concrete design class or their area of research is in the concrete or bridge field. Thanks so much for your help.
