You begin in the arena and then head to the woods for your steady morning ride in beautiful woodland. A great activity if you are new to riding out & about or have only done this a few times. You will have plenty of help on hand. If you need a leader, please request this when you book.
You can bring a carrot to give your pony a healthy treat. Then enjoy your snack & drink ‘on the house’ in the Clubroom with a fun activity too.

Love make a fuss of your wonderful Mount Mascal Stables Pony Club Centre ponies. They all work hard and this is your chance to show them you appreciate what they do. You will also learn so much useful stuff in the bargain! Correct grooming techniques, leading & handling, pony behaviour …You are welcome to bring along a healthy treat such as an apple/carrot. And you can request your preferred pamper pony when you book!

Confident Walk & Trot
No Lead Rein
A morning ride in beautiful woodland for the Clubber who is confident and capable in walk & trot. A great activity to improve your skills beyond the arena. Although you should be able to manage off the lead rein, you will have plenty of help on hand and emergency lead reins will be available. You can bring a carrot to give your pony a healthy treat.
Then enjoy your snack & drink ‘on the house’ in the Clubroom with an activity too. You will try more advanced exercises – such as riding in double file & possibly canter – if the Instructor thinks the ride is capable.

Including prep & after care of your pony and road riding – Hi Vis required
For the Clubber confident & capable in walk, trot & canter. You must be able to tack up & mount on the yard and look after your pony when you return home.
The riding route will include woodland and quiet lanes. Bring a carrot to give your pony a healthy treat and then enjoy your snack & drink ‘on the house’ in the Clubroom.
Great value Hi Vis items available from the office – you need at least a tabard.

BEGINNER JUMP SESSION
For ‘absolutely new to jumping’ Clubbers who walk & trot confidently.
Start with theory and progress to ridden practice over poles on the ground. Then low level cross pole jumps if you are ready. This is how all the top show jumpers got started.
But please check with your Instructor to make sure your flatwork skills are good enough for you to progress to jumping.

Get out on the yard with the behind the scenes team. Day starts with a full safety briefing to include the syllabus for the Mini Fire Safety badge. The move on to activities tailored for your ability that may include: mucking out, grooming, catching ponies, leading, preparing feeds, tacking up and more ... Fantastic fun & good for tests and badges. A rare opportunity to spend time away from the arena. Get involved with pony care and management on our busy yard. Dress warm & prepared to get dirty. This is not the glamour of the dressage arena!

A brand new badge idea based on Examiners’ feedback over several seasons and most recently at Christmas. The facts are these. Your handling skills and knowledge generally do not match their riding ability. NOT a good situation. True horsemanship involves ALL ROUND capability – to be able to CARE FOR & BE KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT your pony.
This session is suitable for Clubbers who are working towards D + Test and those who have gained this level. Especially recently. Gymkhana style handling games to finish.

MINI GROOMING UP FOR GRABS
To be happy handling and great grooming is a MUST if you are serious about becoming a capable Pony Club Member. The full Handling & Grooming badge is especially important preparation towards D & D+ Tests and Examiner’s feedback suggests skills are not always what they should be. The benefits of good handling & grooming skills cannot be over stated. You will become more confident when you ride if you can handle & care for your pony.

Spend time with our side saddle enthusiast, Nancy learning the rudiments of this old equestrian discipline dating back to the Middle Ages in Europe. Renowned for its show stopping elegance, side saddle remains a popular skill today at all levels, including to the very highest.
We will be taking lots of photographs which you can have by email, as this is a not very often chance to try something very beautiful & different.

Informal test session for very young Clubbers & those starting out
The E Test is a super achievable certificate if you are at the start of your Pony Club career. The session will be informal and you won’t even know you are being examined. It’s a success guaranteed activity with lots to learn, fun to be had and friends to be made.
And, you will, hopefully, gain your certificate on the day to take home.
