Access Statement for High Hemmel House

Introduction

High Hemmel House is one of 5 cottages in the North Farm Cottages development. All of the cottages are stone-built and have been tastefully converted from old farm buildings into luxury holiday homes. High Hemmel House is an end property, which adjoins Granary Stone House.
Accommodation includes:

Downstairs: Entrance hallway, master bedroom (6ft bed) with adjoining bathroom with over-bath shower, washbasin and toilet (shared access to bathroom from hallway). Living room with log-burner, kitchen area, under-stair cupboard housing washing machine. Oak panelled floors throughout downstairs.

Upstairs: Twin bedroom with en-suite with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. Double bedroom (4ft 6” bed) with en-suite with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. Further twin bedroom with TV accessed only from double bedroom.

Fully central-heated. Towels and bedlinen provided. No Smoking.

Travel Cot/ High Chair available on request.

No pets allowed apart from Assistance Dogs.

  • The nearest railway station is Alnmouth for Alnwick, which is approximately 9.5 miles away/ 20-minute drive by car/ 60 minute bus ride. Arriva - North East operates their X18 bus service between Alnmouth and Embleton. Please see their website for bus service time table:

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

  • The key can be found in a key safe, outside the cottage. You will need a code to access the key safe. This is provided on your booking confirmation. Guests who have booked through the Booking Agents should be sure to open the email attachment with access instructions on it.
  • The Manager of North Farm Cottages is on site until 4.30pm on a Friday and likes to welcome guests during these hours. Guests may still arrive after 4.30pm, but they should be sure to have the cottage key code with them.
  • High Hemmel House has 2 parking spaces directly in front of the cottage.

Entrance to Property

  • The front of the property is accessed by one step up to the front door.
  • The front door is 840mm/33ins wide.
  • The entrance is well lit by light and controlled by a switch just inside the entrance to the cottage.
  • The rear of the property has one small step up into the entrance hall.

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

  • The hall is well lit using down-lighters.
  • Downstairs, the floor is oak panelled. Upstairs, the floors have plain neutral carpets.

Sitting Room/Lounge

  • The lounge area has level access from kitchen and hallway.
  • The room has 2 , 3-seater sofas with scatter cushions and 2 footstools.
  • Furniture can be moved.
  • There is a wide screen digital television with remote control, subtitles, and a DVD player.
  • Lighting is natural daylight and by night, levels are controlled by dimmer switches, with down-lighters used as well as table lamps around the room.
  • The flooring is natural oak panel.
  • There is a log-burner.
  • There are French doors leading outside to paved area with hot tub.

Kitchen

  • There is a free-standing dual electric cooker with gas hob.
  • There is a fridge freezer with twin doors at the top and freezer drawer at the bottom.
  • There is a dishwasher.
  • The tap is a single mixer tap.
  • There is a cordless kettle.
  • Lighting is provided by down-lighters and lighting in the extractor hood, above the cooker.

Dining Area

  • The dining area is in the living area. There is limited space around the table.
  • There are 6 upright chairs without arms.

Bathrooms

  • There is one bathroom in the cottage, which is downstairs. It has a bath with over-bath shower, washbasin and toilet. This bathroom is also accessible from the hallway.
  • There is an en-suite to the master bedroom,with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet.
  • There is an en-suite to the twin bedroom, with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet.

Bedrooms

  • There are 4 bedrooms.
  • Downstairs, there is a master double bedroom with 6ft bed and en-suite (as described above).
  • Upstairs, there is a double bedroom with 4ft 6” bed and en-suite; a twin bedroom with en-suite and further twin bedroom, which can only be accessed through the double bedroom.

Garden

  • There is a small enclosed garden at the front of the property with paved area.
  • There is a table and 6 chairs provided in the summer months.
  • The footpaths are made from stone slabs, with a relatively even surface.
  • At the rear of the property, there is an enclosed paved area with hot tub.
