Imovies Cheat Sheet
1.. When collecting pictures from google:
- Make sure you use safari.
- Go to GOOGLE.com
- Click on : IMAGES
Find an image you like.
- go to see the full size image
- Right click(control click) on the picture
- Click on add photo to Iphoto library

2. Adding pictures to your movie. On the Imovie screen right hand side mid way down, click on the camera. All of the pictures you gathered from Google will be there on the bottom right of the screen. (if they are not copywritted)
- Just drag the pictures to the top middle screen in the order you want.
- Use the crop tool to crop, or zoom on pics.
3. Adding text to your movie:
- Next to the camera button is a button with a T on it.
- Click on the T. Now you have your text choices.
- Drag the text you want.
- You can put it either on a picture, or next to a picture (depending on the effect you want).
- Edit text in the screen on the right hand top.
- You can change fonts etc…
- The text tab shows up on the top of the clip as a blue box.
- Click on the blue box to edit text at any time.
4.Adding transitions:
- Click on this button to see the transitions.
- Click and drag any transition you like and place it in between two slides on the movie screen.
5. Adding sounds:
- click the button, with a musical note on it.
- Students can use sound effects, or garage band songs, or they can bring in music from home and download into Itunes.
- Itunes easily import to Imovies.

- You can also do voice over, just click on the microphone in the center of the screen.
- Click on the clip you want to voice over, and talk. The Mac has a built in microphone.
- Voice over shows up as purple on the screen.
6. Importing video: you can make video right from the Mac.
- On the left hand side of the screen, mid way, there is a video camera button, click it to open the video recorder.
7. Saving your Projects: USE THE SAME COMPUTER EVERY DAY. It will automatically save. When it is COMPLETE, you will need to export.
Exporting your video:
- Click on the tab on the top of the screen that says SHARE.
- Go to EXPORT movie.
- Make your movie medium size.
- Save it to the desktop
- Export.
- When through, drag off of your desktop and add to your data folder.
