Memorial Scholarship

Earl and Ruby Wyatt started their grocery business in 1945 selling food and other supplies from the back of their Studebaker truck. They later opened Wyatt’s Supermarket on West Shelby Street, and in 1990 a larger facility was built to accommodate their growing business.

Earl and Ruby worked long hours to make their business a success, and provided jobs for many of our local high school students down through the years. Today the business is called Wyatt’s Super Valu and it serves the people of PendletonCounty, as well as the surrounding areas.

Guidelines:

1.Applicants will be judged based on the following criteria: academic achievement, financial need, school extracurricular activities, community and church activities, and solid future plans.

2.The applicant must be an active member of FBLA or DECA at PendletonCountyHigh School with emphasis given to a college major in business or marketing.

3.The scholarship will be presented during the annual Pendleton High School Class Night program.

4.The selection committee will consist of the following: principal or his/her designee, counselor, vocational department teacher, senior English teacher, and senior political science teacher.

5.If the student does not accept or utilize the scholarship in the fall semester immediately following the award, the scholarship is void, unless circumstances beyond his/her control, such as serious illness or injury prevents his/her doing so.

6.One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded, allocated as $500 per semester based on proof of enrollment.
