EVER WONDERED WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP SOMEONE THIS WINTER? Then read on…

BLANKET DRIVE

On Saturday the 4th June Edenvale Rotary Club together with 4 other Rotary clubs will be manning a blanket drive at the Morningside Shopping Centre from 09h00 to 15h00. We are appealing to everyone to ‘buy’ a blanket (1 blanket makes a difference to that 1 person who gets it!) and possibly get your Company, friends and family to do the same. One blanket costs R60 – they are good quality single blankets with edging. If you would like to purchase 1 or more blankets, you can either come along to the Morningside Shopping Centre on the 4th June, or you can deposit the money into the Edenvale Rotary Club’s bank account – clearly market ‘Blanket Drive’ in the reference. Banking details: EDENVALE ROTARY CLUB, Nedbank Ltd., Branch No.19876500, Ac No 1910305960.

We are hoping to ‘collect’ at least 4,000 blankets – that’s 4,000 less people who will be freezing cold this winter! This is the strength of Rotary in action – if we all stand together, we CAN make a difference!

Over the last month we have had some very interesting evenings at our Rotary meetings!

11th APRIL – ANGELES – Self Image Specialists

Colleen Pinto-Duarte and Yolandie Griesel came to speak to us about ‘soft skills’. This is a very well rounded Company and they are very Community minded. They handle issues such as dealing with stress, or with a loved one coping with cancer, etc.

9th MAY – CHARISMATIC KIDS

Cindy Keet and Candice Bodd from‘Charismatic Kids’ are both teachers by profession with Psychology degrees. They gave an inspiring presentation on the work they do with children to “create confident communicators” They work with the children in drama lessons, Leadership and Public speaking workshops. They also do Children’s theatre, Puppet shows and many other FUN.

They are very keen to give back to the community and work with Rotary. I am sure we will hear more of them in the future Their logo is a green frog!

PLANNING A SPECIAL EVENT?

A Past member of ERC had her 50th birthday celebration on the 7th May and used the ladies who did our wonderful Valentine’s Day Dinner décor to do her birthday decor. They donated 10% of the cost to Edenvale Rotary because the referral had come from us and have agreed to do so for any future functions they get via ERC. So, PLEASE, get friends, family, acquaintances, yourselves, to use them wherever possible and tell them you were referred by Edenvale Rotary. We can highly recommend them.
