Tabu N2 International One Design
A brief history of the boat.

The building of the boat was started in 1936 and delivered to the season of 1937 to the then director of the Aas brewery.
The boat stayed on the eastern region until the mid 60's when it was restored by BjarneAas. Since then, the boat stayed on the west coast of Norway.

The boat was restored again when I acquired it in 1991 and went through a two year restoration.

Hull.

The first thing we discovered after the boat was out of shape. This meant that after the cockpit the sternwas taken completely apart and new ribs were inserted while the stern was jacked into place over 6 months. The keel was removed and the wooden keel controlled. This was found in order and the ongoing restoration work could go on.Front stem was replaced with a new laminated stem with 14 layers of oak.
Furthermore, the bottom four boards on each sidewere replaced with the original wood. Oregon Long Leaf Pine. Many screws in the hull were corroded and a total of 2000 screws were replaced with stainless steel screws of ship quality. The screws were plugged and sealed with epoxy. The hull was then splined with 6mmoregon pine and glued in all the areas it was necessary ref images. The hull is treated with SP epoxy that is deeply penetrating and were then covered with a special glass fabric. The keel was glued to the wooden keel to reduce point loads around the keel bolts. (SP system is almost the same as the West system, but tests have shown that the penetration further into the tree). Boat has been sailed in a gale in regattas with no leaks. Hull is sprayed with 3 coats polyteran paint. Electric bilge pump has the original drain through the flag support on the transom.
Deck
All deck beams have been replaced and the deck is plywood with 6 mm teak on top. Joints and bonding with epoxy. All hatches are new. The winches are made of Andersen as the original. Deck equipment is from Spencer in the United States.
Interior.
The boat has a plain with a double bunk in the bow and benches on each side. Space for cooker and there is also an electrical panel for lights and lanterns. The battery is charged by an outboard engine or a fitted charger. The boat has autopilot.
Rigg
The boat has a wooden mast in good condition. Standing rigging is stainless and the fall are in t Spectra. A sail set is nearly new and the boat has a new spinnaker.
