  2. RED CROSS OFFICE/ZELKOWITZ HOUSE: 300 North Mulberry Street or 5 West Hamtramck Street Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 The Lucy Knox Chapter shares its heritage to this 1881 building through the Sperry Family and Revolutionary War Brigadier General Rufus Putnam.
  3. OLD COLONY BURYING GROUND: 250 South Main Street (West Maple) Granville, Ohio 43032 This ‘burying ground’ came into use in 1806. There are eighteen Revolutionary War soldiers resting here. The bookBeneath This Sod tells the story.
  4. MUMAUGH MEMORIAL: 162 East Main Street Lancaster, Ohio 43130 740.654.8451 The home of Mary Frances Mumaugh was given to Lancaster as a cultural center especially for women. The Elizabeth Sherman Reese Chapter DAR Room is on the 2nd floor.
  5. REESE PETERS HOUSE: 145 East Main Street Lancaster, Ohio 43130 The ‘married’ home of Elizabeth Sherman Reese, mother of Ohio’s sixth State Regent (who organized the DAR Chapter in Lancaster).
  6. SHERMAN HOUSE MUSEUM: 127 East Main Street Lancaster, Ohio 43130 740.654.5929 Birthplace and showcase of the Sherman Family….Senator John and General William Tecumseh. Tours share memorabilia of that time in our history.
  7. ZANE SQUARE: North Broad Street Lancaster, Ohio 43130 The center of town offers an opportunity to pay honor to the memorials of war veterans….Civil War to Afghanistan…especially William Tecumseh ‘War is Hell’ Sherman.
  8. ROCK MILL: Rock Mill and Lithopolis Road Lancaster, Ohio 43130 Ohio’s largest and oldest gristmill on the Hocking River. It is powered by a 26’ overshot water wheel with a mill race that is 30’ long. It is part of the Rock Mill Park of Fairfield County.
  9. ATHENS HISTORICAL/MUSEUM/GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY: 65 North Court Street Athens, Ohio 740.592.2280. This Society, like the one in every town with a DAR Chapter, hosts exhibits, lectures, and research opportunities.
  10. GEORGE WASHINGTON PLAQUE: State Route 124 south of Long Bottom, Ohio While exploring Ohio in 1770, George Washington slept here!!! And it influenced his entire life. This plaque is maintained by the Return Jonathan Meigs Chapter.
  11. PLAQUES OF GALLIPOLIS: 432 First Street and State Route 141 near State Route 7 South Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 740.441.6022 These DAR plaques celebrate the Our House Museum’ and the Mound Hill Cemetery.
  12. OLD CHILLICOTHE/KISPOKO/WESTFALL: Route 104 north of Plum-Lick Run Pickaway County, Ohio From 1750 to their relocation, this area was home to the Shawnee tribe. Fergus Moore, a Revolutionary soldier, is buried here. Take the whole tour!....it is so worth the time.
  13. JOHN HOOVER PLAQUE: Gantz Road Grove City, Ohio The namesake of Ohio’s newest DAR chapter is honored for his service to the Revolutionary War cause.

  15. ANN SIMPSON DAVIS GRAVESITE: Davis Cemetery Riverside Drive Dublin, Ohio At the age of 16, Ann was a spy for George Washington riding the battle lines carrying messages in the hem of her skirt. She is the namesake of the Columbus, Ohio Chapter.
