Fall 2017 Bid Day Requirements

  1. Bids may not be given out until 11:00am on Sunday,September 10th.
  1. Chapter members are permitted to go around in groups no larger than fifteen (15) members. However, chapters do have the option of sending out multiple groups.
  1. The following actions are not permitted:
  • Knocking on Windows: Knocking on individuals’ room or common space windows to gain access to buildings is not permitted. Find the designated staff members to grant access to buildings.
  • Excessive Screaming or Noise: It is acceptable to cheer when giving out bids. However, it is not acceptable to scream, particularly at students not involved in bid day, or between rooms while handing out bids.
  • Vandalism:Chapters found guilty of vandalism will face a $1,000 fine and at least 2 weeks of social probation.
  • Public Drunkenness: If your chapter has members who are visibly intoxicated, they will be asked to return to the chapter house and the entire organization will be fined $250 and placed on one week of social probation.
  • Open Containers:If your chapter has a member found with an open container, the entire chapter will be $250 and placed on one week of social probation.
  1. Chapters found in violation of the restrictions above will be prohibited from handing out bids in person next year.

If the responsible chapter is not identified, a $200 fine and one week social probation will be levied to all IFC chapters participating in Bid Day.

There will be a staff members floating to assist with building access. Most buildings now have card access, so you should be able to swipe in. If you know that you are heading to a building without swipe access, please send a text or call Jon.

Ultimately, an “across the board” failure to abide by these policies will result in a complete reconfiguration of bid day next year. This will include either a security liaison for each organization, or the inability for all or specific chapters to enter the residence halls on bid day.

Please also remember that no new member activities should ever involve alcohol. Let’s set a good tone for the semester as we welcome these new members to the Greek community!
