Lori Bunton is the Primary Prevention Education Consultant and Advocate for Regional Crime Victims Crisis Center. Her focus and professional programs are within venues relative to abuse and violence prevention. She presents and educates professionals, paraprofessionals, educators, colleges, churches, community organizations, foster parents, parents, and children of all ages on multitudes of prevention topics related to abuse and violence in the community, schools and within the family. Her concentration is on the strengthening of healthy families and communities and identifying diverse and innovative avenues and assets of the population addressed. Upon retiring from her Recruitment Consultant Agency for Disabled Individuals of 20+ years; Lori expanded her advocacy to include Child Abuse Prevention as the Program Director of a Community Based Child Abuse Prevention Program for 32 West Texas rural communities from 2005 to 2007. This in turn expanded to include Universal Child Abuse Prevention through New Horizons, Inc. from 2007 to 2009 and continues today through the Federal Sexual Assault Prevention Program- Office of the Attorney General via Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention as Primary Prevention Education Coordinator at Regional Crime Victim Crisis Center from 2009 to current. Through the development of primary prevention of violence and abuse; parenting programs and community collaborations within the West Texas communities; she has collaboratively created many unique presentations that are customized and targeted to the needs of the community and believes that a chorus of unique voices and viewpoints is absolutely critical to our success as abuse and violence prevention advocates. Lori received the Mary Buzbee Award through the Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse in 2010. In 2011 she was recognized as the Citizen of the Year through the National Association of Social Workers West Texas Branch.
