Lake City Council Proceedings

November 17, 2014

These minutes are as recorded by the City Administrator/Clerk and are subject to council approval at the next regular Council meeting.

The City Council of Lake City, Iowa met in regular session on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers. Mayor Gary Fahan presided with the following members present: Bellinghausen, Brandon Blair, Chris Blair, Tami Green and Doug Filmer. Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Motion by Green, second by Chris Blair, to approve the consent agenda consisting of the agenda, minutes from the November 3, 2014 council meeting, claims list and October 2014 Treasurer’s Report. MCU.

Jim Luhring and Colin King addressed the council in regards to the deer hunting application and requirements within city limits. The regulations were discussed and one application was received.

Motion-Filmer, second-Green to approve building permits for 304 S. Michigan and 100 Oak Tree Drive. MCU

Motion-Bellinghausen, second-Chris Blair, to go into closed session at 6:43 pm under Iowa Code 21.5 to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered, and when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. MCU

Motion-Filmer, second-Chris Blair, to move out of closed session at 6:58 pm. MCU.

Motion-Bellinghausen, second Chris Blair to post the assistant to the city administrator for an additional two weeks, along with contacting other entities in regards to the posting. MCU

Discussion was held by council regarding residential tax abatement and direction was given to CA to research various options and what other cities are offering and report back to council. Other items discussed were derelict properties, budget workshop, franchise agreement, community visioning, and junk vehicle ordinance and follow up.

There being no further business, a motion was made by Bellinghausen, and seconded by Green to adjourn at 7:43 p.m. MCU.
