To receive a J2 visa for your family, a married student will need to show an additional $2800 per semester ($700 per month) for the spouse and $1400 per semester ($350 per month) for each child.
The applicant should not look to employment, either part-time during the academic year or full-time during the summer, as a significant means of support while at Emory University. Under no circumstances are students permitted to work full-time during the academic year.The spouse of a J-1 Exchange Visitor is permitted to work only with approval from the U.S.Citizenship and Immigration Service.
