Course description:

This course introduces automotive safety, basic automotive terminology, system & component identification, knowledge and introductory skills in hand tools, shop equipment, basic servicing, and the use of service information. Also careers and various job opportunities in the automotive repair industry will be discussed. As part of the ASE accreditation, topics are aligned to the Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) requirements. English language arts reinforced. Work based learning strategies appropriate for this course include job shadowing. Apprenticeship and cooperative education are not available for this course. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.

CDX Automotive-Fundamentals of Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair

Pens/Pencils

At least a composition book.

Textbook Use and Return Policy- During class we will be using the online version of the CDX book mainly.

Grading Policy

Grading Scale: Percentages/Weights

90-100 A Major Assessments 30%

80-89 B Participation 30%

70-79 C Quizzes 20%

69-69 D Classwork 20%

Below 59 F

Procedures

  1. Make up work: See RHS handbook
  2. Make up time time: See RHS handbook
  3. Extra credit : Will be given at different times throughout the semester - will be announced to students in class
  4. Late work: will be accepted, but student can not receive full credit for the assignment.
  5. Attendance: See RHS handbook
  6. Behavior: See RHS handbook
  7. Bathroom: Cannot use the bathroom during the first 20 and the 20 minutes of class or during teacher lecture or instructions. Must have a valid hall pass with you. If policy is abused other actions will be taken.
  8. Remediation/tutoring opportunities: Fridays 3:30-4:00PM
  9. Cell Phone Use: See RHS handbook

  1. Be in your seat and working on bell ringer when the tardy bell rings
