Deri View Primary School was built in 2005. The School has a Nursery, Integrated Children’s Centre and additional educational needs facility. The School is situated in the attractive and vibrant market town of Abergavenny.

Due to the impending retirement of the highly respected Headteacher, the Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational and experienced primary leader with a strong community focus.

The successful candidate will be required to take up the post by September 2012.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will:-

(i)  carry out the duties of a Headteacher as required by statute and as specified in the terms and conditions of service;

(ii)  have a firm commitment to high quality educational provision and

the maximum achievement for each and every pupil.

In implementing the policies of the Local Authority and the Governing Body, the successful candidate will be expected to:

v  have a proven ability as a primary leader

v  have a clear vision for the education of pupils at the school

v  lead, develop, support and motivate a large staff team

v  demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

v  nurture our existing strong community links

v  understanding the function of a community school

v  set targets in order to achieve the highest possible standards of teaching and learning

v  drive forward all aspects of planning in order to achieve the aims of the school improvement plan

v  monitor and evaluate school performance with a view to drawing out the full potential of each individual pupil

v  participate in partnership in the selection and appointment of all staff

v  demonstrate a proven track record of working with other agencies eg. Social Services

v  maintain, develop and promote partnerships with other agencies and the community in which the school is situated

v  in partnership formulate and promote the school aims, objectives and values

v  effectively and efficiently manage resources available to the school

v  maintain, develop and encourage the broader life of the school
