Attendance/Makeup Work Policy/Redo Policy:

If a student is absent from class, it is the student’s responsibility to make up all work missed. All resources missed will be located online in the Canvas course for this class. Failure to complete and submit work missed due to class absence will result in a grade of zero given for each assignment missed. Makeup work that requires use of the computer lab should be done DURING 0 BLOCK on Thursdays which is the time designated for the Business department. Assignments not submitted in a timely manner may be penalized late points.

Students are allowed to retake Summative Assessments in order to obtain a higher grade regardless of the grade earned on the initial assessment. In order to earn the opportunity to retake an assessment, students will be required to attend ONE 0 BLOCK session on Thursday for additional help on the topic and then to complete an extra assignment that focuses on the content covered on the assessment.

RCSD grading policy is followed in this course. These policies are included on a separate, attached page. This page should be signed and returned to me by Friday, August 14, 2015.

Classroom Guidelines:

Appropriate behavior in the class can be summarized using these four guidelines:

• RESPECT yourself and your future.

• RESPECT your classmates and their right to learn.

• RESPECT your teacher.

• RESPECT your school’s property and community.

In cases where a student is consistently disrespectful in class, the following consequences will be used sequentially:

Warning

Teacher/student conference

Parent contact/conference

Referral to counselor or administrator

I will immediately refer a student to a counselor or administrator if I believe that student may cause harm to his/herself or to another person in the classroom.

Specific Policies of Interest:

• In order to be successful in the course, it is important for students to be in class and on time. A tardy will be given to any student who arrives in class after the tardy bell has sounded – no exceptions. Keep in mind that students with 3 tardies in a class are no longer considered for perfect attendance exemption for exams and excessive tardies will result in disciplinary action by the school administrators.

• As part of business curriculum, students will be taught appropriate and responsible use of personal electronic devices. In accordance with FHS electronic device policy, I will confiscate electronic devices that are being used without permission. Confiscated electronic devices will be turned in to the FHS Business Office.

• Students will be allowed to have drinks and snacks in my classroom unless they fail to clean up any leftover trash, crumbs, spills, etc. No drinks other than water are allowed at the computer workstations. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the teacher rescinding this privilege.

Internet/Equipment Policy:

Rankin County School District now requires all students and employees to login each time they use the Internet. ITD tracks each site that each student and employee visits. Students will use the Internet in the course. Students should limit their use of the Internet to instructionally focused websites.
