RE: A Scholarship for a Graduating LincolnCounty Student

Lester Andersen formerly of Limon established a memorial scholarship to honor his wife Georgia Lee Andersen. After Lester’s death his second wife added his name to the memorial. This scholarship is to be issued each spring to a student graduating from one of the listed high schools. The basic requirement is that you must be a current resident living in LincolnCounty.

The scholarship is a one-time award of $2,000 and is given for need, scholarship and accomplishment. The student selected can attend any accredited higher education institution of his/her choice. The timetable has been established as follows:

  1. Applications are due Thursday, April 1, 2010.
  2. The scholarship committee will meet the week of April 19, 2010 and the award will be announced the next week.
  3. Please make as many copies of the enclosed application as you need, but it must be submitted in this format only.

Applications for the Lester & Georgia Lee Andersen Scholarship should be mailed or delivered to:

The committee selecting the individual for the $2,000 award is composed of Mr. Andersen’s widow, Sharyl Andersen of Canon City and a group of Lincoln County citizens and they are: Brenda Higgins (Limon), Marvin Thaller (Hugo); Floyd E. Beard (Executive Director - BOCES), Gloria Beedy (Genoa), Bryan Milburn (Arriba) and Reverend Hoover (Limon).

If there are any questions, please notify the BOCES office as soon as possible so that we may consider and discuss any concerns or issues that may be raised. If there are no concerns or issues raised by any of the affected schools, we will implement the enclosed plan and procedures.
