Dorothy has made arrangements for Follett Maintenance Agreements to be billed by RILINK.

  • The charge for these services will be in addition to RILINK dues.
  • The pricing provided by Dorothy on the spreadsheet reflects the amount required to make all the agreements expire on the same date.
  • Each school must determine what components it wishes to purchase and notify Dorothy as soon as possible.
  • Webpath Express will be available in the RILINK catalog, but schools may purchase or renew it for its catalog (The price for each school that want to have these web links in their catalog is $595 unless enough schools subscribe to give us a discount.)

Discussion of district pricing ensued.

Dorothy informed the group of the status of the Grant proposal submitted to OLIS ($10,000.00):

Delivery System-She has been assured that the current RILINK schools will continue to receive two deliveries each week. New schools can be accommodated.

Database-funds are available to provide Z39 50 interface and to purchase Bookwhere, Alliance and MARCIVE for RILINK.

Database licensing was not accepted.

Four new members are definite for next year: Chariho Regional High School, Scituate Jr/Sr High School, Coventry Middle School and St. Andrew’s School. A mentor will be provided to each school. The mentor will be responsible for orienting the library staff to the policies and procedures of RILINK. It will consist of at least two hours on site and four telephone hours. For this service the mentor’s school library will receive a 20% discount of the annual dues. The mentors for the new members are: Donna Good-Chariho High School, Livia Giroux-Scituate Jr/Sr High School, and Kathy Gendron-Coventry Middle School. Someone from Bristol/Warren will mentor St. Andrew’s School.

Nine libraries are taking advantage of the group discount from Gale for the Student Resource Center Gold. It will be billed through RILINK for $4,400.00.

Please export your records to Dorothy by July 1st. She will e-mail another copy of the directions to the list.

The September meeting will be held at the home of Linda Wood on September 11, 2002 at 4:00 P.M. There will be a short business meeting and the remainder of the meeting will be devoted to sharing and brainstorming ways to promote RILINK.

It was suggested that mouse pads with the RILINK logo and address might be a way to promote RILINK in each school. The member schools would purchase the number they wished for their school. Dorothy will look into have them produced.

A location for next year’s meetings was discussed. It was decided to meet at member school libraries. Cranston High School West will host the October 23rd meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:30. Directions will be provided.

It was decided that the Annual Dinner would be held in April on a Thursday. Suggestions for a location would be appreciated.

Members were reminded that the books sent should have a 14 –digit bar code. Please do not use tape. If you need to secure the bag use a rubber band. Please answer e-mails.

The meeting adjourned at 5:00 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Joyce E. Boyd
