Job Title: /Training Officer (Pensions) (Part-time)
Reports to: /Technical Officer
In order to meet the full requirements of the post, applicants must have experience in and/or be able to demonstrate competence in the following areas:Essential: /
- Five GCSE passes at grade C or higher (or equivalents) to include English and Mathematics at grade B or higherplus
a higher level qualification (e.g. two A levels, BTEC Diploma, NVQ Level 3) and 2 years’ experience working within a public or private sector pension environment.
OR
4 years’ experience working within a public or private sector pension environment.
In addition applicants must be able to demonstrate/possess:
- Clear and effective verbal and written English communication skills and an ability to recognise and adjust the style and content of communication to meet audience needs. You should be able to positively coach and engage listeners when delivering training.
- Experience of delivering workplace training sessions and presentations.
- Good, up to date,working knowledge of final salary pension schemes (particularly the Local Government Pension Scheme) and associated legislation (e.g. HMRC and DWP).
- Ability to read, understand pensions technical information (e.g. pension regulations and associated legislation) and apply the learning to your role.
- Excellent IT skills i.e. proficient in use of MS Office products which must include Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be expected to provide basic training and guidance on these products during induction training as well as in-depth training on the in-house pension administration system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. You should be able to build sound working relationships with colleagues, peers and stakeholders and work effectively as team member(i.e. reliable, flexible, will treat others with respect and an ability to communicate constructively).
- Excellent organisational and administration skills and have a systematic approach to tasks to allow you to effectively manage a demanding workload, competing priorities and interruptions.
- Excellent numeracy skills, an ability to perform calculations, work with attention to detail and an ability to identify errors.
- Ability to use initiative and work with minimum supervision
Preferred: /
- Previous experience of developing of a training function from scratch and a proven track record in the delivery and design of training programmes to suit organisation needs.
- Knowledge of up to date technology and learning styles and techniques.
- Possess a recognised training qualification and/or have undertaken (or be willing to undertake) a train the trainer course.
- Excellent technical knowledge of pension regulations and associated legislation such as social security and HMRC.
