MARCH 23, 2009 REGULAR MEETING
Chair Tim Healy called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Zoning Commission members— Tim Healy, Brett Porter, Dale Gapas, Anne Clouser and Jim Fedor were present. Alternate Zoning Commission member Lea Hlifka was also present. Claridon Township Zoning Secretary—Deb McDivitt attended to take the minutes.
GUESTS: Amy Holtshouse/Brennan, Chagrin River Watershed Partners, and Kelsey Daily, student.
MOTION—MINUTES FEBRUARY 23, 2009
Motion by Mr. Fedor, seconded by Mr. Porter to approve the minutes for the February 23, 2009 meeting as presented.

MOTION TO INITIATE AMENDMENT 2009-01
Motion by Mr. Gapas, seconded by Mr. Fedor to initiate an amendment to the Claridon Township Zoning Resolution, identified as number 2009-01, consisting of Exhibit “A” and Exhibit “B” (attached).

MOTION TO SET DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT 2009-01
Motion by Mr. Gapas, seconded by Mr. Healy to set the date for Public Hearing on proposed amendment to the Claridon Township Zoning Resolution #2009-01 on April 27, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Claridon Town Hall.

Mrs. Hlifka asked for her cell number to be listed in the public notice for examination of zoning resolution upon request.
Public notices will be mailed to the Palanskys and their bordering neighbors including neighbors across the street.
McDivitt will deliver initiated amendment to the Geauga County Planning Commission and send a copy to the Geauga County Prosecutor for review and recommendations.
Amy Holtshouse/Brennan from the Chagrin River Watershed Partners gave a recap of the Balanced Growth Program presented to the Claridon Township Trustees. Holtshouse explained why she thinks it is a good program and why Claridon Township should be involved.
The Zoning Commission had a discussion on wetlands and riparian setbacks with Ms. Holtshouse.
The Zoning Commission had a discussion on soil types. Anne Clouser brought a book called Soil Survey of Geauga County to detail the soil types in our area. McDivitt asked for a copy to keep on our shelf in the Town Hall. A book was provided for temporary use.
MOTION TO RECOMMEND CRWP BALANCED GROWN PROGRAM
Motion by Mr. Healy, seconded by Mr. Gapas to recommend the CRWP Balanced Grown Program to the Claridon Township Trustees.

McDivitt to write a letter to the board of Trustees suggesting the recommendation including changes made in tonight’s meeting. All will be carbon copied.
The Zoning Commission reviewed and discussed the Zoning Inspectors report.
