Accounting & Tax Manager - Manhattan

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our New York office for an emerging financial professional with a strong accounting and tax background to join our innovative company. This is an ideal role for a CPA qualified individual with experience in a large accounting firm who is looking to move into their first in-house position.

You’llprepare accounts, ensure compliance with local tax regulations, provide detailed and insightful financial analysis, and a desire to join a fast-paced organization. You’ll ensure compliance with accounting guidelines act as a business partner to improve the quality of the financial accounts and audits.The role is based at our Manhattan office but reports to our Group Financial Controller in the UK.

You will

  • Perform accounting and general ledger duties including signing off US payroll
  • Prepare accounts under US GAAP
  • Provide analytical input on the performance of the stores on a monthly basis
  • Provide input to the budgeting and forecasting processes with insight to performance trends
  • Contribute to cost control initiatives and provide the cost consciousness for the US business
  • Act as business partner and transfer accounting/reporting knowledge to other departments
  • Contribute to the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close
  • Support the UK banking team with assistance on the monthly bank reconciliations
  • Support finance related audits such as the annual year-end audit
  • Provide local tax support and advice for the Group Tax Manager in the UK
  • Continually work to enhance your knowledge and understanding of state and federal tax laws
  • Actively gain knowledge of tax law in all states where we operate, including NY, NJ, FL, CA, NV
  • Prepare monthly sales tax and income returns and filings, liaising with local tax consultants
  • Work closely with the UK finance team on all matters

You are

  • Qualified to BS/BA in Finance or Accounting, ideally with CPA
  • Experienced in general financial accounting and tax withina major accounting firm
  • Seeking to move out of practice into your first in-house position
  • Analytical and detail oriented with well-developed financial analysis capabilities
  • Experienced in preparing US GAAP accounts
  • Experienced in filing sales tax and corporate income tax returns
  • Knowledgeable about federal and NY/NJ state tax law
  • Able to quickly pick up understanding of tax regulations in other states
  • A strong communicatorwith the ability to foster effective internal & external working relationships
  • Strong attentive to detail with the ability to work under pressure with focus
  • Comfortable reporting to UK office and working extensively with UK finance team
