Dear Staff,

I hope you have had a wonderful summer. This summer we received wonderful news about Kenmoor Middle School. We met our “Annual Measurable Objectives” on the MSA for the second year in a row. There is no doubt that your collaboration, superior instruction and high expectations made this possible.

As we enter this new school year, we must be vigilant and focused on continuous improvement in student achievement. As educators, we must fully embrace Kenmoor’s big rocks for 2013-2014 and they are:

  • Quality Instruction
  • Student engagement
  • Higher order thinking and questioning
  • Highly Effective Classroom Management
  • Full implementation of PBIS
  • Creating a Culture for Learning
  • Differentiated job-embedded Professional Development
  • Learning Walks
  • Collaborative Planning and Data Analysis

I am pleased to announce and welcome Ms. Skye Knickman (Autism coordinator), Ms. Millette Edwards (Autism), Ms. Dorothy Williams (Autism), Ms. La Shelle Ferguson (SS), Ms. Jennifer Narwacki (Sp Ed), Ms. Carol Carter (SS), Ms. Alana Koenig (Sp Ed) and Mr. Joe Finney

(IT Tech). They all bring extensive knowledge and expertise that will support KMS on the path to excellence. The administrative team will closely monitor instruction and provide developmental feedback to promote faculty and student achievement. Once again, the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program will be implemented school-wide to establish a structure of behavior accountability.

Professional duty days begin Monday August 12, 2013 at 9:00 with a full schedule each day until 4:10 pm on Friday August 16, 2013. Your prompt attendance at these sessions as well as timely daily attendance during the school year is essential to modeling excellence for our students.

I am very excited about our new teachers as well asyou, our seasoned and dedicated staff. Please enjoy the rest of your summer.

See you soon.

Sincerely,

Maha Fadli,

Principal
