Rhode Island Quality Institute Appoints Kim A. Keck, President and CEO, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island to Board of Directors
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, September 6, 2016 -- Rhode Island Quality Institute (RIQI) has appointed Kim A. Keck, President and CEO, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) to its Board of Directors.
Kim Keck brings more than 25 years of health insurance experience to her role as Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) president and CEO. She leads the company’s ongoing efforts to drive a simplified customer experience and to advance coordinated, patient-centered, and affordable healthcare for Rhode Islanders.
Keck came to BCBSRI in June 2016 from Aetna, where she was engaged in integration planning in connection with Aetna’s anticipated acquisition of Humana. She previously served as president of Aetna’s northeast region and interim president of the southeast region, with responsibility for $20 billion in revenue and approximately five million members. During her decades-long tenure at Aetna, Keck also held leadership roles in enterprise strategy and finance was also instrumental in Aetna’s development of value-based reimbursement programs, models for accountable care and population health, and utilization management.
Born and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Keck earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Boston College and an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut. She served on the board of directors at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. She lives in Rhode Island with her husband and college-aged daughter.
