Dear School Administrator,

This letter is on behalf of ______, a student at your school.

The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale and the Philadelphia Girls Choir provide the finest musical education for young men and women in the Philadelphia area. Known and celebrated throughout the world, PBCC delivers a one-of-a-kind performance experience.

This letter is to let you know that PBCC and PGC will once again be performing with the Pennsylvania Ballet in their annual production of “The Nutcracker”. Our boys and girls only have one rehearsal with the orchestra and ballet (the final dress rehearsal), and the Pennsylvania Ballet has unfortunately scheduled it during the school day. We try to limit all rehearsals and performances to evenings and weekends, but occasionally an event during the school day comes up which is beyond our control.

The rehearsal is scheduled for this Friday, December 8th at 1:00 pm. With the transportation time required, it will likely mean that students might need to leave school as early as 11:30 am in order to be present for the rehearsal. On behalf of the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale and the Philadelphia Girls Choir, we would greatly appreciate it if you would work with this student and her family to excuse this absence, and to assist them in preparing in advance for the material that she will miss.

We understand that school absences are a challenge for singers and for schools, and we thank you in advance for working with her to ensure she can be successful at both. The life skills that our singers learn from performing music at a professional level with professional musicians and from experiencing foreign cultures during our annual concert tours such as this one are often the same skills that help them to excel in school and later in life.
