2018 TERMS AND CONDITIONS
FEMCINE, 8th Women's Film Festival
The Women's Film Festival FEMCINE invites female directors from Chile and the rest of the world to participate in one of its three competition categories: International Feature Length Competition, International Short Film Competition, and the National Chilean Film School Short Film Competition.

1. FESTIVAL DATES:
The festival will take place in Santiago, Chile on March 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25, 2018 at various cultural venues throughout the capital.
2. OBJECTIVES:
FEMCINE was created to discover and support the work done by female filmmakers and to share films with gender-based subjects with a broader audience.
3. COMPETITION CATEGORIES:
a. INTERNATIONAL FEATURE LENGTH COMPETITION
Ø Films must be at least 60 minutes in length and no longer than 120 minutes, including credits.
Ø We only accept films directed solely by female filmmakers.
b. INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Ø Films must not exceed 30 minutes in length, including credits.
Ø We only accept films directed solely by female filmmakers.
c. NATIONAL CHILEAN FILM SCHOOL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Ø Films must not exceed 30 minutes in length, including credits.
Ø We only accept films directed solely by female filmmakers.
Ø This category is open to young female filmmakers who are currently students or who graduated in 2016 from one of the many film schools or institutes that offer audiovisual or related degrees in Chile. The films submitted must have been produced while they were still students.
4. GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR SUBMISSION
Ø We accept fiction, documentary, animation and/or experimental films that were produced between January 1, 2016 and November 5, 2017, the date the competition submission closes. We will not accept any films that have previously been submitted to a FEMCINE competition, except those that participated in the Work In Progress Program.
Ø The registration fee is USD$10.00 for feature films and USD$5.00 for shorts. Chilean films can register free of charge through our website.
Ø All films participating in the competition may not have premiered in Santiago,Chile prior to their exhibition in the Festival.
Ø All the films in the competition categories must be directed, or co-directed, solely by female filmmakers.
Ø All films that were not originally filmed in Spanish, must contain adequate subtitles in English or Spanish in NTSC standard for the selection process. Should the film be selected, the applicant must provide a film version with Spanish subtitles.
Ø Films will only be accepted electronically in H.264 format, with an .mp4 or .mov extension, spoken or subtitled in Spanish or English for the pre-selection process. You may submit your film for the pre-selection process through Click For Festivals, Festhome, Vimeo, Dropbox, Youtube, or WeTransfer. The applicant shall be responsible for any costs related to submission of the film or related material.
Ø No submitted material shall be returned.
5. GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR SELECTION AND PARTICIPATION:
Ø The films submitted for participation in the competition in its various categories shall undergo a selection process that shall be curated by a team comprised of the festival organizers and programmers.
Ø The selection committee's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
Ø Participants selected for the National Chilean Film School Short Film Competition must commit to have at least one representative of the film team present at the awards ceremony on Saturday March 24th, 2017.
Ø The filmmakers and/or producers of the films selected for participation in the competition, agree to include the phrase "Official FEMCINE Women's Film Festival Selection" or "Official FEMCINE Selection" on all their publicity and press material, along with the Festival logo.
Ø The films selected for participation in the competition may be used for educational purposes or as part of the touring programs organized in conjunction with FEMCINE, all of these activities are free and not-for profit. The Festival in turn agrees to inform the filmmakers of said activities ahead of time.
Ø The Festival may use stills and clips of the films selected for participation in the competition for all FEMCINE publications, festival trailers, press coverage, and preview screenings to promote the event. The Festival will in no way benefit monetarily from these instances and all film rights shall remain in the hands of the filmmakers themselves.
Ø Once a film has been selected for the competition, it may not be removed from the FEMCINE program.
Ø The films shall be exhibited in Bluray, DVD, or H.264 format. The screening copy must be in Spanish or contain Spanish subtitles following the NTSC standard.
Ø Screening copies of the films selected for competition, with the appropriate Spanish subtitles if not originally filmed in Spanish, and all other complementary material (trailer, stills, director photos and bio) must be received in our offices by February 10, 2018, at the latest.Failure to do so may preclude inclusion in the catalog.
The Official Selection shall be announced on January 19, 2018 on our website. www.femcine.cl and via email to the selected participants.
6. JURY:
Ø Will be comprised of national and foreign personalities from audiovisual, arts, film industry, and cultural fields, who will be selected based on their curriculum and invited by the Festival to participate.
Ø Individuals directly related to the films selected for competition, will be ineligible to participate as members of the jury.
Ø There will be three official judges for each of the competition categories.
Ø The judges' decision shall be final and not subject to appeal.
7. PRIZES
The winner of each category shall receive a statuette created by renowned Chilean artist BrunaTruffa. Furthermore they shall receive:
a. INTERNATIONAL FEATURE LENGTH COMPETITION
Ø First prize is USD $1,000.
Ø Honorable mention will receive a diploma.
b. INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Ø First prize will receive USD $500
Ø Honorable mention will receive a diploma.
c. NATIONAL CHILEAN FILM SCHOOL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Ø First prize will receive USD $300
Ø Honorable mention will receive a diploma.
8. ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By submitting a film to the Festival, you agree to these terms and conditions.

FEMCINE, 8°Festival Cine de Mujeres
El Festival Cine de Mujeres FEMCINE, invita a las realizadoras de Chile y del mundo a participar en una de sus tres categorías de competencia: Competencia Internacional de Largometrajes, Competencia Internacional de Cortometrajes y Competencia Nacional de Cortometrajes de Escuelas de Cine de Chile.

1.- FECHA DEL CERTAMEN:
Tendrá lugar en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile, los días 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 y 25 de marzo 2018 en distintos espacios culturales de la capital.
2.- OBJETIVOS:
FEMCINE nace para relevar y apoyar el trabajo de las realizadoras y acercar a un amplio público a las películas relacionadas con las temáticas de género.
3.- CATEGORÍAS DE COMPETENCIA:
a. COMPETENCIA INTERNACIONAL DE LARGOMETRAJES
Ø De duración mínima de 60 minutos y máxima de 120 minutos, incluidos los créditos.
Ø Solo se aceptan películas dirigidas únicamente por mujeres.
b. COMPETENCIA INTERNACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES
Ø De duración máxima de 30 minutos, incluidos los créditos.
Ø Solo se aceptan películas dirigidas únicamente por mujeres.
c. COMPETENCIA NACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES DE ESCUELAS DE CINE DE CHILE
Ø De duración máxima de 30 minutos, incluidos los créditos.
Ø Solo se aceptan películas dirigidas únicamente por mujeres.
Ø Podrán participar jóvenes que a la fecha del festival sean alumnas regulares o egresadas en el 2016 de las diversas escuelas de cine e institutos con carreras audiovisuales o afines de Chile, únicamente con trabajos que hubiesen sido producidos cuando eran alumnas.
4.- CONDICIONES GENERALES DE POSTULACIÓN:
Ø Podrán participar todas aquellas obras finalizadas de ficción, documental, animación y/o experimentales; producidas a partir del 01 de enero 2016 hasta la fecha de cierre de la postulación, o sea, el 05 de noviembre de 2017.No se podrá postular con una película que previamente haya postulado a una competencia de FEMCINE, a excepción de participación en el Work In Progress.
Ø El costo de inscripción para largometrajes es de USD$10,00 y para cortometrajes es de USD$5,00. Películas nacionales chilenas pueden postular gratuitamente en nuestra página web con su RUT.
Ø Todas las películas en competencia no podrán haber sido estrenadas anteriormente en la ciudad de Santiago, Chile.
Ø Todas las películas en competencia deben estar dirigidas o co-dirigidas únicamente por mujeres.
Ø Toda película que no sea originalmente en español, deberá estar debidamente subtitulada al español o inglés en norma NTSC para el período de selección. De ser seleccionada la película deberá ser subtitulada al español por parte del postulante, cualquier gasto asociado al subtitulaje corre por su cuenta.
Ø Las películas se aceptarán únicamente por vía electrónica en formato H.264, extensión .mp4 o .mov, hablada o subtitulada en español. Las plataformas preferentes de visionado o descarga son Festhome, Click for Festivals, Vimeo, Dropbox, Youtube o WeTransfer. Cualquier costo asociado al envío del material corre por cuenta del postulante.
Ø Ningún material recibido será devuelto.
5.- CONDICIONES GENERALES DE SELECCIÓN Y PARTICIPACIÓN:
Ø Las obras recepcionadas para la competencia, en las distintas categorías, serán sometidas a un proceso de selección con un jurado de curadores formado por el equipo programador y organizador del festival.
Ø La decisión del jurado de curadores es inapelable.
Ø Para la competencia Nacional de Cortometrajes de Escuelas de cine de Chile, se debe comprometer la presencia de por lo menos un representante de las obras en competencia en la noche de premiación que será el sábado 24 de marzo de2018.
Ø Las realizadoras y/o Productoras de los trabajos en Competencia que reciban un premio, se comprometen a incluir en su publicidad y material de prensa la frase “Selección Oficial FEMCINE, Festival Cine de Mujeres” o “Selección Oficial FEMCINE”, utilizando el logotipo del Festival.
Ø Las películas seleccionadas para la competencia podrán ser utilizadas en actividades de formación o itinerancia organizadas por o en conjunto con FEMCINE, todas sin fines de lucro.A cambio, el festival se compromete en avisar a las realizadoras de dichas actividades con anticipación.
Ø El festival se reserva el derecho de usar extractos de las obras seleccionadas en competencia con el objeto de difundir el evento, sin fines de lucro, y sin perjuicio de que los derechos de autor de las obras permanecen en poder de los dueños de estas.
Ø Una vez seleccionada, la obra no podrá ser retirada de la programación de FEMCINE.
Ø El formato de exhibición será Bluray, DVD o formato H.264. Deberán ser presentadas en versión original en español o subtitulada en español, en norma NTSC.
Ø Las copias de exhibición de las películas seleccionadas para competencia, debidamente subtituladas al castellano de ser en otro idioma, y todo material complementario(tráiler, fotogramas de la película, fotos y biografía(s) de la(s) directora(s)) para inclusión en el catálogo, deberán llegar para proyección oficial en el certamen, a más tardar el 10 de febrero de 2018.
La selección Oficial será anunciada el 19 de enero de 2018 por el sitio web: www.femcine.cl y por correo electrónico a las seleccionadas.
6.- JURADO:
Ø Estará formado por personalidades del medio audiovisual, de las artes, la industria y la cultura nacional y extranjera, seleccionados por su currículo e invitados por la organización del festival.
Ø Estarán inhabilitados de formar parte del jurado personas directamente relacionadas con las obras en competencia.
Ø Existirán tres jurados oficiales para cada una de las categorías en competencia.
Ø La decisión del jurado oficial es inapelable.
7. – PREMIOS
En cada categoría, las ganadoras recibirán el galardón de FEMCINE: una estatuilla de la artista visual Bruna Truffa. Además recibirán los siguientes premios:
a. COMPETENCIA INTERNACIONAL DE LARGOMETRAJES
Ø Primer premio recibirá USD $1.000.
Ø Mención especial del jurado recibirá un diploma de honor.
b. COMPETENCIA INTERNACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES
Ø Primer premio recibirá USD $500.
Ø Mención especial del jurado recibirá un diploma de honor.
c. COMPETENCIA NACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES DE ESCUELAS DE CINE DE CHILE
Ø Primer premio recibirá USD $300.
Ø Mención especial del jurado recibirá un diploma de honor.
8.- ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES
El envío de la obra supone la aceptación de las presentes bases.
