LAUSD VALLEY SPRING GAMES

Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) and Adapted Physical Education Teachers have teamed up for the Seventh Annual LAUSD Spring Games. This event will be the culmination of a sports training program in March and April that will prepare student-athletes to compete in a variety of track and field events. Eighty-four schools are participating in the Track & Field Sports Training program and the 2014 LAUSD/Special Olympics Spring Games. San Fernando Valley schools include:

The Benefit of Athletics

A Special Olympics Athletics Training Program:

1) Provides opportunities to learn through sports competition.

2) Helps individuals develop all aspects of total fitness needed to compete in any sport.

3) Encourages and promotes the development of life-long fitness skills that will help student-athletes lead a more productive and independent life.

The Sports Training Program

Students will train for the LAUSD Spring Games through their Adapted Physical Education Programs. Adapted Physical Education teachers who volunteered to be their schools trainer/coach attended an orientation and Coaches Meeting on January 28th, 2014 at Emerson Adult School.
