9.56.1 SYSTEM SUMMARY

St. Lucie County has a type 4, E 911 system consisting of 1 Primary PSAP and 1 Back-Up PSAP as follows:

9.56.1.1 ST. LUCIE COUNTY PRIMARY PSAP

St. Lucie County has a consolidated county wide Primary PSAP located at the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center. Law enforcement calls are handled by direct dispatch. The call takers record the details of all fire and rescue calls on a computer screen. This screen is also displayed at the St. Lucie County Fire District which is responsible for radio dispatch.

9.56.1.2 ST. LUCIE DISASTER RECOVERY BACK UP PSAP

The Disaster Recovery Back Up is the County’s Back-Up site in case the main PSAP cannot be utilized or occupied.

9.56.2 SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

The St. Lucie County 911 system is under the direction of a Board of Governors, which consists of:

County Administrator, Chairman / Sheriff of St. Lucie County
Chief of the St. Lucie County Fire District / Chief of Police for Fort Pierce
Chief of Police for Port St. Lucie / Director of Public Safety

Also, under the direction of the Board of Governors is a 911 Advisory Board, which consists of:

Public Safety Division Director / Major of Law Enforcement for St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Dept.
Deputy Chief of St. Lucie County Fire District / Asst. Chief of Police for Fort Pierce Police Department
Asst. Chief of Police for Port St. Lucie Police Department

The responsible fiscal agent is the Board of County Commissioners.

9.56.3 INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS

St. Lucie County’s E 911 system has selective routing thereby eliminating central office overlaps with adjoining counties. Therefore, there is no specific requirement for an interlocal agreement. St. Lucie County does have an interlocal agreement with Martin County for emergency routing of ANI/ALI data over a regional network.
