Research Experience:
2004-2006 Principal Investigator: Suicidal Ideation and Behavior, and Help Seeking, Among Undergraduates. Cornell Gannett Health Center Special Fund for Mental-Health Services ($17,000). A preliminary survey of students regarding suicidal ideation and behavior experienced by them and their friends, and the types of help that they or their friends have sought for suicidal thinking or behavior.
2003-2006 Principal Investigator. Stalking and Other Forms of Intrusive Contact After Adolescent Dating and Romantic Relationships. U.S. Agriculture Experiment Station Hatch Funds ($51,000). A three-year project to expand earlier work into four additional upstate New York counties and to expand research efforts to learn more about the motivations behind intrusive contact.
1999-2003 Principal Investigator. An Integrated Countywide Response to Stalking Among Adolescents. U.S. Agriculture Experiment Station Hatch Funds ($42,000). A four-year project to assess the incidence and development of stalking and other forms of intrusive contact between friends and romantic partners in high school and college, and develop a countywide response among school, law enforcement, and mental health professionals.
Research experience (continued):
1997-2001 Principal Investigator. Assessment and Intervention with Severely Abused and Neglected Children in New York State. New York State Office of Mental Health ($161,000). Develop assessment strategies for determining the mental and physical health needs of children who have been severely abused and neglected, and develop model programs to meet them.
1996 Principal Investigator. Evaluation of the 'Kids and Company' Abduction and Exploitation Prevention Program. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children ($28,000). Lead a team of scholars evaluating the effectiveness of the National Center's curriculum to prevent abduction and exploitation among kindergarten through sixth-grade children.
1992-1996 Principal Investigator; Adoption of School-Age Children. U.S. Agriculture Experiment Station Hatch Funds ($48,555). A longitudinal study of the development of families that adopt a school-age child.
1992-1994 Principal Investigator; Development in Foster Families. Life Course Institute, Cornell University, ($15,000). A longitudinal study of families providing foster care to school-age children.
1990-1992 Principal Investigator; Adult's Views of the Appropriateness of Sexual Behavior Between Children. Cornell University Special Projects Grant Fund ($1,665). Survey of the opinions of members of several professional groups working with children regarding sexual activity between children.
