ODAC General Membership Meeting

Norfolk Academy Cafeteria
· Senior Swimmer Nutrition Talk
Brooke Mercedes, from Bon Secours, will be offering a nutrition talk on Thursday, February 4 at the Great Bridge Swim & Racquet Club.
The specific time for the talk is still being finalized.
· Group Parent Meetings
The final set of Group Parent Meetings will be offered, at both practice sites, during the week of February 8-11.
· Norfolk Academy Practice Times
Swimmers at the Norfolk Academy practice site will return to the early set of practice times (6:15-8:15 pm) as of Monday, February 8. These practice times will remain in effect through the remainder of the short course season.
· Chesapeake High School Swim Meets at GBSRC
Chesapeake High School swim meets will run on consecutive Thursdays and Saturdays through the month of January. The final meet is scheduled for Saturday, January 30. This Thursday (1/28) will be the final switch night for age groupers at GBSRC, and this Saturday (1/30) is the final practice that will necessitate an 11:00 am finishing time for age group practice.
· Championship Meet Team Party
The ODAC Championship Team Party is scheduled for Monday, February 15, at Laser Quest. All swimmers are encouraged to attend and sign-up is available on the team website.
· Senior Championship Date Change
The VSI Senior Championship has been moved from its original date of March 11-14 to the new date of March 4-7. The meet is still being held at the University of Virginia facility.
· Venue Change for Age Group Championships
The short course Age Group Championship meet has been moved from Virginia Tech to George Mason University – Freedom Center. The date for the meet remains the same.
· Sponsorship / Marketing
ODAC will once again be sponsoring the cable television broadcast of this years Chesapeake High School District Championship. Former ODAC President Bill Johnson will be one of the announcers for the meet. ODAC will also be placing ads in all of the areas (Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Norfolk) District, Regional, and State meet programs.
· New One-Page ODAC Flyer
ODAC has a new one-page information flyer to be used for marketing and recruiting purposes. Please feel free to distribute these new flyers to any person, family, venue, or business that may have an interest in ODAC or competitive swimming.
· Long Course Pool Availability
ODAC wanted to make all its members aware that there is a strong possibility that the Fleet Recreation Long Course facility will not be available this spring or summer. The Navy is planning on closing the pool and has already shut the Little Creek Navy Seal Team facility to outside organizations. We are already looking into other options for the upcoming summer season and will keep everyone informed.
· 2010 Recruiting
ODAC is currently finalizing its recruiting plan for the 2010 summer season. Along with putting together new marketing and recruiting information we will be offering underwater videotaping opportunities, at no charge, to summer club teams and their swimmers. Parents who may have interest in helping with the recruiting effort can give the office a call.
· Spring Break
The upcoming Spring Break in the swim year is scheduled for March 27 through April 11 for Age Group swimmers, and April 2 through April 11 for senior swimmers. All swimmers return to practice as of April 12.
· Age Group Stroke Clinic
The ODAC staff and senior swimmers will be offering a week-long Stroke Clinic from March 22-25. Stroke and Skill refinement and development will be emphasized. This clinic will be in lieu of normal practices and the specific schedule will be available in the next couple of weeks.
· ODAC Spring Banquet
This years ODAC Spring Awards Banquet and Graduating Senior Recognition is scheduled for Sunday, April 25 at the Vista Point facility. The Spring Banquet is the social event of the year at ODAC and all families are encouraged to attend.
· Bubble Takedown
The Bubble Takedown is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 24, so please mark your calendars.

February 6-7 Annapolis Invitational
Open to Select Group swimmers not in High School
meets.
February 5-7 ODAC 14-under Invitational at ODU
Open to all ODAC 9-14 year old swimmers.
February 13 8-under Super Circuit Meet at GBSRC
Open to all ODAC 8-unders.
February 19-21 District Championships at Midtown
Open to all ODAC 8-under to 14 year old swimmers
who do not exceed the meet qualifying times.
February 26-28 Regional Championships at Midtown
Open to all ODAC 9-older swimmers who meet the
qualifying standards.
March 4-7 Senior Championships at UVA
Open to all ODAC senior swimmers who meet the
qualifying standards.
March 16-20 Junior Nationals in Orlando, FL
Open to all ODAC senior swimmers who meet the
qualifying standards.
March 18-21 Age Group Championships at GMU-Freedom Ctr.
Open to all ODAC 9-14 year old swimmers who meet
the qualifying standards.
March 26 ODAC “Duel in the Pool” at GBSRC
Open to all ODAC swimmers.
April 1-3 Age Group Zones in Webster, NY
Top 3 swimmers in each event at Age Group Champs
qualify for the meet.
· ODAC Summer Team Travel Trip
Place: Snowshoe Mountain
Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia
Date: August 2-6, 2010
Cost: $250 per swimmer / chaperone, which covers all meals, lodging, transportation, and activities.
Transportation: Venture buses
Lodging: Summit Condo Units (each unit sleeps up to 8)
Meals: Breakfast will be available in each condo unit.
Lunch will be in the condo units and at local
restaurants.
Dinners will be at the Snowshoe Lodge and local
restaurants.
Activities: Split Rock Pools and hot tubs
