Claridon Township Zoning Commission

JANUARY 10, 2011 SPECIAL MEETING

Chair Tim Healy called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. Zoning Commission members— Tim Healy, Brett Porter, Kurt Smemo, Lea Hlifka, and Anne Clouser were present. Claridon Township Zoning Secretary—Deb McDivitt attended to take the minutes.

Guests: Mike Farrell attended after the Trustee meeting.

MOTION—MINUTES DECEMBER 20, 2010

Motion by Anne Clouser, seconded by Tim Healy to approve the minutes for the December 20, 2010 meeting as presented.

ROLL CALL: Brett Porter–Aye, Tim Healy—Aye, Kurt Smemo—Aye, Anne Clouser—Aye.

McDivitt stated to the Zoning Commission that Kurt Smemo has been appointed to serve on the Zoning Commission by the Claridon Township Board of Trustees for a five year term.

Chair Tim Healy turned the meeting over to Deb McDivitt, Pro-Tempore, for the purpose of the election of officials for the year of 2011.

McDivitt asked for nominations from the board for Chair. Brett Porter nominated Tim Healy for Chair. Lea Hlifka seconded the nomination. Mr. Healy accepted the nomination.

MOTION – 2011 CLARIDON TOWNSHIP ZONING COMMISSION CHAIR

Motion by Anne Clouser, seconded by Lea Hlifka to appoint Tim Healy, Chair of the Claridon Township Zoning Commission for 2011.

ROLL CALL: Lea Hlifka–Aye, Anne Clouser–Aye, Brett Porter–Aye, Kurt Smemo—Aye.

McDivitt asked for nominations from the board for Vice-Chair. Brett Porter nominated Lea Hlifka for Vice-Chair. Anne Clouser seconded the nomination. Lea Hlifka accepted the nomination.

MOTION – 2011 CLARIDON TOWNSHIP ZONING COMMISSION VICE-CHAIR

Motion by Anne Clouser, seconded by Tim Healy to appoint Lea Hlifka, Vice-Chair of the Claridon Township Zoning Commission for 2011.

ROLL CALL: Tim Healy–Aye, Anne Clouser–Aye, Brett Porter–Aye, Kurt Smemo—Aye.

McDivitt stated that the new Chair is Tim Healy and the Vice-Chair is Lea Hlifka for 2011. McDivitt turned the meeting over to Chair Tim Healy.

MOTION TO INITIATE AMENDMENT 2011-01 TO THE CLARIDON TOWNSHIP ZONING RESOLUTION

Motion by Lea Hlifka, seconded by Kurt Smemo to initiate amendment 2011-01 to the Claridon Township Zoning Resolution (exhibit “A” attached).

ROLL CALL: Tim Healy–Aye, Anne Clouser–Aye, Brett Porter–Aye, Kurt Smemo—Aye, Lea Hlifka—Aye.

The Zoning Commission Board reviewed and signed the forms for initiation.

The Zoning Commission discussed changing the next regular meeting date from February 21, 2011 due to Presidents Day. The meeting will be changed to a Special Meeting to be held on February 14, 2011. The Meeting time will be changed from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm. McDivitt will notify the Maple Leaf.

MOTION TO SET DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT 2011-01 TO THE CLARIDON TOWNSHIP ZONING RESOLUTION

Motion by Brett Porter, seconded by Anne Clouser to set the date for the Public Hearing on proposed amendment 2011-01 to the Claridon Township Zoning Resolution to February 14, 2011 at 6:00 pm.

ROLL CALL: Tim Healy–Aye, Anne Clouser–Aye, Brett Porter–Aye, Kurt Smemo—Aye, Lea Hlifka—Aye.

The Zoning Commission decided to hold the Special Meeting On February 14, 2011 to directly following the Public Hearing.

The Zoning Commission Board reviewed and signed the forms to hold the public hearing.

The Zoning Commission reviewed and signed the forms for Transmission to the Geauga County Planning Commission. There was a discussion on the form of transmission.

McDivitt handed out the Zoning Inspectors report. The Zoning Commission had a discussion on this report.

MOTION—LENGTH OF PUBLIC COMMENT

Motion by Anne Clouser, seconded by Lea Hlifka that public comment is limited to a total of two minutes per resident, subject to board discretion at any Claridon Township Zoning Commission meeting for the year of 2011.
