Cover:

Design a front cover with a title, date, and colorful design including pictures and phrases about the content of your magazine. (The advertisement will be the back cover.)

Table of Contents:

This will be the last thing you do, but the first page in your magazine! On this page list each article and the page numbers.

Editorial Page:

As the editor you must have a strong opinion about something related to your topic. Write a persuasive piece about this issue for your magazine. Remember, this topic should be something that has both pro and con sides.

Information Page:

Write an expository piece to explain what your topic is to your reader. This will give your audience the “big picture” of your magazine.

Photo Page:

Find a photo. This could be on the internet, a photograph from home, or a hand drawn piece. Then write a descriptive piece about the image you selected.

Human Interest Piece:

A human interest piece is just that- something that humans would be interested in about your topic. An example might be a magazine about horses could have a human interest piece about the fastest horses in the world. This is a narrative piece.

Who’s Who:

Find a person who is considered an important individual within the field of your topic. Write a piece showcasing who they are and why they are important in this field. You will need to do some research on the individual.

Words to Know:

This is the glossary for your magazine. Make an alphabetical list of words and definitions that are related to your topic. These words will be new vocabulary for your audience.

Advertisement:

Create a product that would relate to your topic to market to your audience. The words and images you select should make your audience want to purchase the product. Use no more than 20 words!

Optional Items to Include:

You may want to include additional items such as: book/movie reviews, jokes, riddles, cartoons, puzzles, word searches that are related to your topic.
