Stettler Minor Hockey Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:10pm.

Minutes from January 2014 were reviewed. Angela Smith moved to have them adopted as read, Apryl Cassidy seconded.

Directors

Mites- Rena- The tournament went well. Mites is done for the season.

Novice- Tracey/CJ- All is well.

Atom- Danee - absent

Peewee-Shanon- absent

Bantam- Renee- absent

Midget- Apryl- Midgets are done. The A team will be staying with NCMHA for the upcoming season. The A team will be competing in provincials the weekend of March 21st.

Female- Cheryl- The midget team played in East Central League this season. The parents were informally polled regarding the season. Some concerns were expressed about the amount of travel. Parents would like to see NCMHA become more competitive.

There is a meeting in Calgary scheduled for April 19th, focusing on female hockey in Alberta. Cheryl will attend.

The midget team is projecting too many players for the upcoming season. A suggestion was put forth to look at holding tryouts for the midget team.

Hockey Alberta AA Model

Jason H. reported that he has not been updated on the proposed AA model. Hockey Alberta is slated to make an announcement by the end of March.

Female Hockey

Provincials

Seven teams from SMHA participated in provincial playdowns. Five teams won their zone and will be competing in their respective provincial tournaments beginning this weekend.

Affiliations and our policy

Currently, SMHA does not have a written policy on affiliations. SMHA believes that affiliations are important to team and player development.

Action: Jason H., Brad, and David will draft a policy on affiliations, to be reviewed at our next meeting.

Registration Changes

Updated registration forms and letter will be handed out to the director for each team.

Volunteer cheques are now known as ``Fundraising`` cheques. The new registration form provides the option to choose to have the fundraising cheque cashed right away.

REPORTS

Treasurer- Angela

NCMHA rescinded our $200 fine from the Bantam B cancelling a game with Camrose.

Angela is still receiving receipts and paying for coach certifications.

VP Operations- David Zondag

All is well.

VP Registrations- Neil McCallum

Upcoming NCMHA meeting on April 12. Neil is unable to attend. SMHA must have a rep or will be fined.

Action: SMHA must send a representative to the April 12 NCMHA meeting.

Equipment Manager- Greg Risler

Greg has been receiving lots of end-of-season sales pitches from equipment providers.

Suggestion put forth to offer jerseys for sale to players at the end of each season. Will discuss at an upcoming meeting.

Ice/Ref Allocator- Fran Sharpe

Ice for the next season has been booked- pre tryout skates, tryouts, practices, tournaments, game slots, and provincial weekends.

There was some discussion regarding booking ice for tiering games in the beginning of October. 4 game slots would cost approximately $2000, as ice is at a premium before the second sheet is put in.

There was a suggestion put forth to hold goalie clinics in conjunction with surrounding communities.

The ``Booze Barrow`` raffle was very successful and raised around $8000. The raffle draw will be held on March 23.
