Exhibit AAIABaltimore Urban Design Micro-Short Film Competition Contest 2017Official Rules & Submission Agreement

General Eligibility

1)  The competition is open to college students as well as amateur and professional filmmakers.

2)  Each submission must meet all eligibility requirements, and must include one contact person who will provide a signature for required documents, and a valid email address for correspondence with AIABaltimore.

3)  All films are to be uploaded using the VIMEO website. IMPORTANT NOTE: AIABaltimore is not responsible for the streaming quality of online screeners. AIABaltimore strongly suggests applicants test VIMEO link before submitting documents. AIABaltimore screens films online from VIMEO site. If you are unable or unwilling to provide us your film in a format useable by VIMEO for exhibition, DO NOT SUBMIT your film.

4)  Only films that are submitted will be considered for competition. Submission deadline is Saturday Oct 7, 2017 at 11:59pm (Eastern Standard Time). Late submissions and submissions that do not comply with the Official Rules/Submission requirements will not be accepted. Read all of this Exhibit carefully.

5)  Entry Requirements:

a)  A Vimeo web-link address for the submission.

b)  A signed copy of Contest Official Rules & Submission Agreement Form, found at the end of this Exhibit.

c)  The title of the film shall be included in the title of the film submission files.

6)  Please sequence the micro-short film as follows:

a)  2 seconds of black

b)  A title card with, at a minimum: film title and filmmaker team name(s).

c)  The film contents

d)  Reference ‘AIABaltimore Urban Design Micro-Short Film 2017’ within film document.

e)  2 seconds of black

7)  Submitted micro-short films must be original works and filmmakers must be able to provide proof of licensing for any copyrighted material featured in the project to be eligible. Location approval and proper on-screen credit for licensed work is also required.

8)  Submissions must not exceed 2 minutes in length. There is no minimum length.

9)  All micro-short films must be produced in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.

10) The micro-short film can be set in any open or enclosed space as long as it is a setting open to the public.

11) Entries can be silent or with sound.

12) Entries can be produced by any equipment such as on professional kit, DSLR cameras or camcorder, smartphones or tablets. The competition entries can be created in any format (Super-8, 16/35mm, video, animation, etc) but must be uploaded as a digital file in any of the following file formats: .AVI, .MPG, .MOV, .MPEG4, .MVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP and WebM.

Entry Transmission:

1)  Email all signed documents and VIMEO link to . Please include in the Subject line: AIABaltimore Urban Design Micro-short Film 2017, then add the title of your micro-short film.

2)  In the event of a password change or link change after submitting from VIMEO, you must email the AIABaltimore immediately with that change so we may update your record. If the AIABaltimore is not notified of the change and the link is found to be inactive or the password to be incorrect the AIABaltimore will send an email to the submitter’s address on file to follow up. If a response with the correct information is not received within forty-eight (48) hours, the submission may be deemed ineligible.

3)  Micro-short films that have played in Baltimore in a theatrical setting to a public audience prior to October 13, 2017 are not eligible to compete. The ONLY exception is that a short may play as part of a class screening for an accredited university’s film program. Private invite-only screenings (for instance for cast and crew or donors) do not affect a film’s eligibility.

Originality and Permissions

1)  Micro-short films must be the original work of the applicants. If a film is based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. However, it is not necessary to submit the adaptation rights agreements to the AIABaltimore. The AIABaltimore, sponsors, judges and volunteers will neither investigate nor attest to the authenticity of an applicant’s statement of authorship or rights secured. By entering the competition, it is presumed and applicants acknowledge that they have secured all necessary rights.

2)  Applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in the micro-short film, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. AIABaltimore, its sponsors, judges and volunteers expressly disclaim all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.

Selection and Awards

1)  AIABaltimore reserves the right to reject any entries that do not comply with the Official Rules & Submission requirements herein. AIABaltimore also reserves the right to reject films that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content, as determined at AIABaltimore’s sole discretion.

2)  AIABaltimore has no obligation to disclose any of the following information: i) identities of screeners or judges; ii) notes, feedback, or information relating to the submitted project; and/or iii) details regarding the submission review or selection process.

3)  AIABaltimore, sponsors, judges and volunteers explicitly disclaim any liability or responsibility for any comments, notes, or opinions expressed about a submission, whether by AIABaltimore or by its sponsors, judges or volunteers.

4)  Winners will be announced on October 28, 2017. The judges’ decision is final.

5)  Winners receiving cash prizes are solely responsible for payment of all applicable local, state, and federal taxes.

6)  Once a project has been submitted for consideration, no revisions will be accepted.

7)  AIABaltimore reserves the right to cancel the competition if insufficient amount of submissions are received.

I/We declare that I/we hold all necessary releases for all images, personnel, music, script and any other previously copyrighted material. I/We understand that all submitted materials are authorized by the filmmaker and/or producer for use in publicity purposes for the AIABaltimore Micro-Short Film Competition, and that AIABaltimore has the right to use any or all of these materials for non-commercial use (publicity, promotion and graphics). If footage from the submitted film is used in festival promotion, AIABaltimore will limit this usage to less than one minute. AIABaltimore also will not authorize any television broadcast of footage from submitted films without the express written consent of the filmmaker and/or producer(s). Modification or waiver of any of the provisions of this agreement must be in writing and signed by myself/us and a representative of AIABaltimore. This agreement is governed by the laws of the Maryland, applicable to agreements made wholly to be performed therein.
