Position Description:

The Coordinator of Instructional Technology is an innovative educator who specializes in the integration of technology resources throughout the instructional curriculum. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology, this position directly supports schools by coordinating digital resources, planning professional development, and ensures that personalized learning/online programs are implemented with fidelity. The Coordinator of Instructional Technology is responsible for facilitating the effective use of technology within schools to accelerate learning, promote data-driven teaching, and increase student achievement.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Ensure urgent, systematic, district-wide implementation of transformative technology use to advance student learning through best teaching practices of the Common Core State Standards.
  • Assesses readiness of schools and faculty to carry out the transformative use of technology to promote student learning.
  • Works in close partnership with the technology and academic teams to oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive instructional technology plan for the district.
  • Collaborates with the technology and academic teams to align work, evaluation resources, monitor progress, and solve problems.
  • Ensures the work related to this position is in compliance with federal statutes and regulations, state laws, BESE rules and regulations, JPPSS policies and procedures, and relevant contractual obligations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Technology.

Skills and Qualifications:

JPPSS seeks detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of what an excellent classroom/school looks like with integrated technology including online learning programs in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Familiarity with district-priority software and online learning programs including their student interface, teacher dashboard, best practices for implementation, and data-reporting capabilities to increase student achievement.
  • Lead and collaborate with the staff in the identification, development of, training in and implementation of instructional methods appropriate to the respective curricula they support which are aimed at the continuous improvement of student achievement and expansion of the instructional repertoire.
  • Work with principals as primary evaluators to link evaluation with continuous improvement of instruction.
  • Assist in the development, writing and submission of competitive grants which will supplement regular revenue resources to meet the goals of the District’s programs.
  • Familiarity with relevant and innovative digital tools.
  • Experience with blended learning
  • Expert knowledge of trends and future directions of technology in the learning environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in handling and directing multiple and complex assignments and projects.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
  • High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgement and disciplined thinking.
  • The ideal candidate will be instructionally sound, able to develop and execute an implementation plan, and able to influence others to change/enhance their teaching behavior.
  • Project management experience with large and complex initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum (3) years teaching experience at the elementary level (K-8). Louisiana Teaching Certificate required.
  • Familiarity with district and school-level operations preferred.
