Position: Cook (Part Time)

Summary: Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County, Inc. is seeking a quality individual to assist our Food Service Director. This person should be able to easily multi-task and problem-solve in order to prepare and assemble fresh meals in a fast paced environment.Meals On Wheels grows much of its own food and utilizes large amounts of locally donated produce; because of this, an ideal candidate will be creative and flexible when planning and preparing food. Scheduled hours are6:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and select evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and assembling client meals, primarily the hot lunch entrée
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen
  • Perform cleaning duties using established sanitation procedures in the kitchen
  • Follow established time and temperature procedures
  • Show respect for all clients, volunteers, staff and donors
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of clients, donors and volunteers

Physical Demands: This position may require the person to sit or stand for 6+ hours at a time, walk, bend, drive, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Serv Safe Certification (or ability to attain one)
  • Ability to read, convert and execute recipes
  • Previous food service experience, preferably catering or banquets experience
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred
