Application for DFW RIMS Organization Board of Directors

DFW RIMS Organization Board Service Requirements, Qualifications, and Terms for Consideration

Participation in DFW RIMS Organization governance provides a unique opportunity for an individual to make a significant contribution in the field of risk management and insurance (RM&I). Participation on the DFW RIMS Board also carries with it certain time commitments, including personal time and some time away from the workplace. It is for this reason DFW RIMS encourages nominees to secure the support and endorsement of their employer for this important position in service to the RM&I professions. It is up to the nominee to determine the level in their organization required for a commitment such as this (e.g., self, supervisor, department director).

The DFW RIMS Organization's Board consists of fifteen (15) Directors or Officers comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Secretary during their terms of office, the immediate Past President, the Delegate and nine (9) other members. Class I DFW Organization Members or Class I National RIMS Members with Paid Local Dues only, can serve as Officers. Class I Partner Members can serve on the Board as a Director, but not as an Officer. The total number of Class I Partner Directors is limited to no more than three (3) members at any given time.

Nominees for DFW RIMS Organization Board of Directors must be a Class I member of the DFW RIMS Organization, employed by a qualified organization, have responsibility for some risk management functions, insurance, benefits and/or safety management, and be able to attend Board meetings in accordance with Chapter bylaws. Experience, demonstrated leadership, participation in organizations similar to DFW RIMS, and demonstrated commitment to the profession(s) that comprise the Risk Management and Insurance industry, receive consideration.

No Director, except Directors elected and serving as DFW RIMS Organization Officers, shall serve more than two (2) full, consecutive terms. Unless a motion is made by the Board and approved by 2/3rds of the vote. Any Director requesting to stay beyond term limits cannot participate in the vote for an additional term.

For consideration to serve on the DFW RIMS Organization Board of Directors, Nominees must submit a completed DFW RIMS Board of Directors Application Form, to the current DFW RIMS Organization Board of Directors.

Please provide a brief current biography.

28 years in Risk Management. I have held risk positions across a number of industries, including: Aviation, Hospitality, Manufacturing, DSD, Petro Chem and Trucking. I come from the loss prevention side of the business originally and have worked to incorporate and utilize strong Loss Prevention and Health and Wellness into a strong Risk Management program. In recent years I have been specializing in developing Corp Risk Programs that develop a Safety Culture to control costs and improve employee culture.

What do you enjoy most about the risk management and insurance profession?

It is an occupation that allows you to make a difference in all levels of an organization. A good Risk Program can effect change from the Board room to the front line employee. Making a difference in the daily lives of employees is a positive fashion.

Briefly describe why you want to serve on the DFW RIMS Organization Board of Directors.

Throughout my career I have been a member of RIMS and have been able to learn and share because of it. I am at a point in my career where I want to take time to give back to the organization and the people that helped me. I believe that we as Risk Managers have to help develop the new generations of Risk Professionals so that we can continue the high standard that we have developed.
